Jesus Christ, how much bounce was in that floor
Honestly, not much, which is insane. There was some sagging but it wasn't terrible. I only used the room as a walk through to the deck. In a decade of owning this house I never used it for much of anything to be honest

Lol! Thought you got that off Google, my man. Not sure how that didn't cave the fuck in.
Nah man, this is my house. No idea how this didn't fall apart. Luckily this is the only addition to the house and everything else is exposed enough to know it's not crazy framing and cob jobbed together.

Someone must've been high as kite putting that down. Doesn't make sense even for a novice going in with all those crazy angles.

It's mind blowing. I talked to my neighbor and showed him, he's been in his house 70 years, he said that addition was actually a company and not the previous homeowner, he couldnt remember the company name though, he said it was early 90s they built it. IDK how the original homeowner didn't see that and lose his mind

I want to see how many nails were in that subfloor, they most have missed half just trying to find the jigsaw puzzle of a frame.

The contractors are finishing thr refreshing now. They said they used more nails then wood but none of them were even in anything worthwhile.

They built a temporary frame to attach the other half correctly yesterday then ripped out the temp frame and are doing the other side. Guess they didn't trust anything they other person did, which I don't blame them for at all

I didn't get a pic of the new framing, I totally forgot, they put down temporary decking just to keep the draft out, then put up a zip wall (they're revamping that whole side of the house, 3 rooms, the other rooms is just new flooring and paint).

Here's a sketch of what the framing looks like. The yellow is the block wall foundation which looks to be in great shape. The think blue is double beam, the thin blue is single beams. There's more beams than what I drew but wanted to show the basic idea. It looks right to ne but I'm not exactly a pro and don't know what's right for a 3 sided cantilever frame. The contractor used some program to look at loads and showed me.

They main house beams go the same direction as the starting beams and they're tied together now. They still have to do blocking and we discussed a couple posts in the far corners, he said I can get by without them but recommends them. Just sonotube, concrete, 4x4, and a header to ensure zero sag.

Anyone smarter than me have recommendations? 1000011556.jpg
