What does your buddy do? Because being a Colonel means fuck all. If he isn't at EADS he won't know a thing about this. If he's at EADS there's a 100% chance I know him because there's only 3 birds there.

I am pretty well connected, I retired from the Air Force and am now a consultant for multiple government agencies and other nations who are building their drone capabilities.
Honestly, 90% is retarded people who see a light in the sky and scream drone. It's largely idiots who know fuck all about this topic. The other 10% is a mix of hobbiests doing illegal shit, likely some espionage (like the dude in cali who was arrested), and people doing nefarious shit. What its not is fucking aliens.
I do a lot of weird shit with drones for a job and most people don't notice, then someone does and they start freaking out and it gets blown out of proportion. I work Group 1-5 drones, counter drone, and niche/future capabilities and it's retarded to use a group <3 to do nuclear detection, there's fixed wing manned aircraft that do it far better and far cheaper.

I don't need to call them, I still have all the access they do plus a lot more. I've seen nothing shocking with this situation other than a lot of retarded people thinking a plane or helicopter is an alien spacecraft. I've lost a lot of faith in the intelligence of people if anything.
I was so happy when I got my DJI Mini 3 only to fire it up and get a message that my house is in the middle of a no fly zone, because of the airport 2 miles north of me. After clicking through all the warnings I still fly it around the neighborhood just waiting for the FAA to show up with all my RemoteID logs. haha
