FAA considers drones as aircrafts, if you shoot one down or take control of one it's considered basically the same as shooting down an airplane.
So if it's the US government doing this aren't there only two choices? Either the administration knows it is happening and is intentionally not telling the citizens (lying) or they will have to admit that there are agencies that are not answerable to the president.

On a number of military sites, they are saying it's obvious to them these are Pterodynamics X-P4s. These are reconnaissance drones that have the ability, among other things, to detect nuclear radiation. There question is is this some sort of exercise, testing the use of numerous drones in coordination? Or is the government looking for something, perhaps nuclear material?

Tiny toy drones shut down football games until they figure it out and get them out of there. If these things are the size of cars, there is no way they'd be allowed to fly over populated areas like they are.
It's not aliens. The exterior lights rule that out. I'd even argue that they aren't aggressive military. Why make them detectable at night?

So I've been checking out YouTube on these things - why are the only videos taken by the public?
The news is reporting on it, but with all their sophisticated equipment - cameras with spectacular zoom abilities - I haven't found any "professional" video capture. If there's a car crash those fucks are on site in minutes. But with these things - nothing? If all this shit happened on only 1 night - maybe I can buy that. But for about a week and nothing?
The media machine can easily be captured and quickly become compliant - we know that from their Covid lies.
Are they under instruction to stand down on filming these things?
