Those bollards can be extremely effective:

These particular ones do not appear cantilevered.
They look like temporary slide-in/slide-downs.
Rather than having deep poured concrete encased steel.
The ground grooves shown could not have been more than 2" thick, if true meaning a solid steel rod could be placed in a receiver and temporary waffle-construction removeable bollards bolted over that.
I'm just speculating from what was shown, and reports have come out that the driver negotiated the barriers.
Fail at any rate.

Yeah but those are permanent bollards, these ones look they just sit on a track in the concrete and are movable, more as a deterrent than something that would stop a car. Go to like 40 seconds.

There are retractable bollards that are extremely strong, I suppose it depends on what was installed.

Here's a company advertising a telescopic security bollard that can apparently be very strong:

"...automatic bollards are presented in a more durable version, capable of stopping a truck weighing up to 7 tons at speeds up to 80 km/hr."

But these don't appear to be retractable, they are moveable on a channel in the concrete, seems like a cheap option just to say cars aren't allowed in this area versus stopping them.

Years ago I remember reading that somewhere in the u.s., there is a training facility/area for al qaeda and locals went to see what the fuck was going on and was told by authorities at the entrance to basically get lost. Does anyone else remember this? I'd look it up but it would take a while and might be scrubbed
