I still wish she had taken Christopher Nolan up on his offer to write and direct Bond as a period piece set in the 1950s and sticking close to the tone of the books and the first couple of Connery films. But she was adamant on keeping Bond in the present.

I don’t think that matters to audiences overall as much as it does to some purists. Three of the top 10 grossing Bond films adjusted for inflation are from the Daniel Craig era, with Skyfall being #1 overall.
What the Craig films lacked in a Bond with iconic looks as described in the books (only truly achieved by Connery and Dalton) they made up for in gritty action more akin to Fleming’s stories than some of the films that predated them. The hard-edged, serious Bond beats the smooth, wisecracking versions any day.
Bond was charming in the books too and craig is a fucking asshole and not charming at all.And Connery was hard edged too he could kick your ass and get the girl.
craig had to wear lifts as bond no other actor did that. I remember years ago people were saying Dalton was too short.Bond was my favorite movies and I despise craig for ruining them. Id fight that motherfucker any time.
Cubby said he would never have a Bond under 6 foot then his stupid bitch daughter hires her friend when there was other better actors auditioning.Gerard Butler was better and coulda got the job if he hadnt bragged he already got it.
