Also, Robbie is a knockout fighter with devastating power. Condit does not have devastating power but instead, incredibly sharp technique and variety in his attacks. Not everyone is a KO artist so people have to fight to their strengths. Yeah Robbie hits harder but if those don't KO the other guy then what difference does it make when he's outstriking you 2-1? If it was just about who punches harder then we should just be watching two guys stand in front of each other taking turns giving each other haymakers with no defense until one guy falls over.

Effective striking is the criteria. Not who landed the most.

I gotchya. In my opinion, Robbie's striking was effective in the 5th round and for the one shot in the second that dropped Condit and gave him top control which he them almost immediately gave up. Other than that, almost all of his shots were brushed off and then answered by much more effective striking from Condit.

Just watched. Thought maybe Carlos won it. Rds 1 & 4 definite, rd 2 definite for Robbie. Case could be made for Carlos winning both 3 and 5.

If the fight was scored as single rounds then condit most likely should be champion.

I would say it is arguable however that 2 of the rounds could've been 10-8 to Lawler. Haven't seen the scorecards but Robbie came closest to finishing the fight and whilst Condit's chin made those rounds look closer it makes it incredibly difficult to judge.

You can't have complaints in such a close fight and a split decision was ironically predictable because the mma world is split on who won.

If Condit was the champ and Lawler was the challenger I think there'd be alternate discussion on how Robbie should have the belt. Let's take it for what it is: a tough fight to score and Robbie wasn't in enough trouble to make it feel like an injustice.

Such an awesome card all around. Even the decisions (which there were quite a few) were exciting.

Lawler and Condit was a spectacular display of what both men were made of without any shit talk. Pure class from both men. Fight of the year!

Robbie was in more trouble than Condit. And I don't see cases for a 10-8 for Lawler. Both were extremely tired at the end, neither was close to being finished.
