And did this fucking guy that was recording think he was behind some magical camera shield? He just keeps filming while having the perfect opportunity to kick his hand/face during the screenshot @Splinty posted.

Spill the beans Splinty. How do you feel about this one?

Personally, I wouldn't encourage my dog to bite any one especially if I though he had a gun, I would not want my little sweet heart going after him.

Well sure. But there's some level of natural territorial defense with a dog. Unless you get a softer breed. My family's chihuahua thinks it can go to bat with any other dog/person on the planet. Pint-size thing is barely bigger than my fist.
Absolutely. I have a Cane Corso, she would either go super aggressive or pee everywhere.

Also there was a flock of sheep at my house yesterday and just after I let the cat out they were suddenly gone, I like to think he hunted them off.

Where we come from, it's not something that happens. I have no fucking clue how i would react, i probably wouldn't be able to do shit because I wouldn't have a gun
It doesn't happen where I live either. But I have had a gun pointed at me before..... They got their virgins. I don't like guns pointed at me, and if you point one at me you better kill me.

When the old man makes distance, he continues to aim the weapon at the cameraman. To me that removes any pretense of "retreating".

The increased distance actually only makes the the old man safer while he continues to pose a deadly thread aiming a gun.

Would I yell at a gunman to "do something"? Nope. But don't think using verbal, fist, or a dog against a man brandishing deadly force is escalating things.

Even when the dog gets on the old man, at no point is that old man willing to let that gun go, continuing to aim and threaten.

At no time do I see the old man saying "fuck me, I'm out of here." Until he is being attacked by the dog AND has someone prying that gun from him, he is continuing to be a threat.

So no, I just don't see this as retreating at all. Rather I say an asshole bully that brought a gun and was surprised that he wasn't more intimidating to his neighbor.

The courts decision to NOT charge the gun man seems suspicious and I can only imagine that it is to strengthen their case against the home owner. You can't charge the gun man for threatening and then keep a strong prosecution that the other guy should be guilty assault.

The fact that it is actually a flare gun is of no consequence as even in the video you see no orange until the gun is finally pried from old man's hands.

There were some comments about "relishing" in the dog attacking and also the dog only attacking a leg. But that's how they work. Dogs are training to respond to command and encouragement like that is to keep them going. They are also well training if they only attack arms and legs as the goals isn't to kill but to disable the threat.

All in all, I would have made different choices -- point a gun at me and I'm likely running. But nothing the camera man did would be jail worthy if I was on the jury.

Id knock the old guy out and piss on his face for bringing a flare gun to the gun show.

Nah probably wouldn't do that.. But I don't care about retreating, if you break out any form of weapon, you are putting it in that situation..and more often than not that will escalate things..they might've had prior disagreements but imo he's lucky he didn't get seriously hurt by the other guy..there should be a law against being a dick. Definitely odd of the guy to attack him later rather than sooner and after the situation was over..but suing someone you pulled a gun to? Old man lost his marbles..

Can't sue you if they're dead. In the moment it's reeeal easy to kill. The hard part comes after... Unless you have some sort of condition.

Nah, I think peeing into someone's unconscious mouth is as far as I'll go. It'd be much worse living the rest of his days with my urine aftertaste in his dentures anyway.

I think you may think differently after having your life put in serious danger. Fight or flight is an amazing function of the human body.

A urine flavored everlasting gobstopper and 100 mile an hour tape would be hilarious retribution. :D

I've never had a gun pulled on me, but I've been jumped four times in total, I'm not a big guy, but I'm not easily intimidated. I've been cut along the ribs by a junkie with a boxcutter..but the moment I punched him I took my chance and run away. Cunt ruined what was my favourite shirt at the time too but I didn't think I should "teach him a lesson" or anything like that.. I wasn't calm at all, I wanted to kick his teeth in, but its not worth it.

I get what you mean though..things can definitely take a turn for the worst in an instant.

When my family has asked me about the flight or flight, my best way of explaining it is: once the switch flips, it's go time.

AHHAH that pic is AWESOMENESS!!!!!! right back at you bro.

One of my biggest fears is actually getting in a confrontation like that with my family or my girl nearby..I can tolerate a lot more shit done to me than the people I care for.
