How does either one equate to "the same thing they did in Africa when they kicked the whites out."???

I am pretty sure you realize that @HEATH VON DOOM was not referring to the continent of Africa making a collective decision to kick all white people out. I find the following ad-hominem to be intellectually dishonest. And I do believe that the sort of encouragement to leave offered to a lot of whites in southern Africa is unethical.

In a chilling and foreboding message, Mugabe on Wednesday said "we will have no mercy for white people regarding the land, they cannot own our soil".

We say no to whites owning our land and they should go

Mugabe, in power since 1980, told thousands of black farmers that the whites are free to own companies and apartments in our towns and cities but not the soil.

He said the remaining white farmers enjoyed the protection of some of his ministers and warned of a renewed crackdown.

"There are white farmers who are still on the land and have the protection of some cabinet ministers and politicians as well as traditional leaders," he said.

"That should never happen and we will deal with the ministers. I have been given a list of 35 white farmers in Mashonaland West alone and in just a few districts that have been audited. We say no to whites owning our land and they should go.

"It is ours and that message should ring loud and clear in Britain and the United States."

Faced with a prospect of defeat in the 2000 general elections, Mugabe's government adopted a much maligned fast track land reform programme that saw thousands of white farmers violently pushed out of the land they owned.

Mugabe's government insists the land reform programme was meant to balance colonial imbalances, where blacks were forcibly removed of their land.

However, there are reports that some of the beneficiaries of Mugabe's land reform routinely invite the former owners to lease the farms back, much to the disgust of one of Africa's remaining strongman.

His pronouncements are likely to send jitters across the agricultural sector and the remaining white commercial farmers, who have argued that they did not benefit from colonialism.

The land reform programme triggered a capital flight, which Zimbabwe is yet to recover from.

If you think being asked to leave a country based on your ethnic origin by way of thuggery and legislation maybe you should think about it a little more.

I come from a people who are living under those exact conditions and it categorically equates to being "kicked out", consider raising children who will be given very few rights in a country based on the lottery of birth (their ethnicity)

White Privilege, a label that is designed to divide, to categorize. A term that over-simplifies.

This term will not aid in finding a solution. We want to bundle complex issues with simple terms, preferably with a hashtag, for the ease of pointing fingers. Labels are what turned the once legitimate feminist movement into a joke. This term White Privilege (Or male privilege for that matter), ends discussions, it creates resentment.

We can acknowledge social and racial divide/issues without grasping for simplistic, catchy, racial/social terms that are confrontational. It also etches out the white people fully aware of these social/racial issues. It eliminates any path towards reconciliation.

There is an advantage in being the dominant race of a country, no matter what the race. So depending in what country you live, and whether your race is part of the majority or not, is what really matters, not what race you are. It should be called "Privilege of the Majority", if you really want to keep race out of it. I realise this term doesn't sound as catchy, it's harder to yell out and shut someone down with. Because it would sound like something that doesn't need to be yelled out, it is common sense.

The advantage of the white majority is real, but not as absolute as the term White Privilege makes it out to be.

Serious answer (admittedly without reading thread, because ain't nobody got time fo dat...right now): if you really want an answer to this question, there's plenty of work out there that you can likely reach via a Google search, where the discussion isn't conducted almost solely among whites.

(I only got through page one, so, who knows, maybe there is a big discussion where all...three or four non-whites on the board got involved? I would expect most to avoid like plague, because if a white person reaches adulthood without realizing there are multiple standards of judgement/empathy/material-historical-inheritance/political-inheritance/basic-recognition-of-full-humanity largely determined by racial identity in all aspects of American life, a non-white adult would be likely to view that person as a lost cause. Plus it's an MMA board.)

To be honest, most of the time, when a question like this is asked on the web, it's rhetorical (i.e. there is no genuine curiosity at work -- if there was it would be asked in a place where one's views would truly be challenged in a setting where one feels unsafe and outgunned).

If you wanted a starting point, discussion boards where Henry Louis Gates & Cornel West's "multicultural era" work is discussed by educated people will lead you to both older historical precedents & more modern/post-modern/post-post-modern ones. Smarter, more historically aware people than you or I are working on this topic endlessly, completely devoted to it without being ivory-tower disconnected types.

I don't think many people really give a shit about this topic,i.e. knowing the truth of it, white or non-white. It takes a lot of effort and study to really make headway in understanding it, though the basic recognition that all of us have double standards -- you can't be an American and not have them, at this time -- ought to be pretty straightforward.

Like most people, I don't lose a lot of sleep, or get genuinely angry about it in an existential way that when evil befalls white people (a child being murdered, or taken, for example), the public and institutional reaction is vastly different from when it befalls a black child, or to other degrees any child of color. What are you going to do with that anger, if you do have it? OTOH, recognizing one's own insensitivity and bigotted emotional habits doesn't mean you have to deny you have them, or that the source of your having them doesn't affect nearly all of public life for yourself and others.
