Lets face it, none of us are going to fork thousands to visit a shit hole ghetto but for those of us who are morbidly inclined seeing shitty parts of the world can be interesting.

I thought Id share some of Sydney Australia's, as a parameter on what Im going to share Ive defined ghetto as somewhere I wouldnt walk around at night alone and certainly wouldnt let a tourist friend visit during the hours of darkness.

You will notice that the suburbs Ive chosen dont correlate with the official data here Crime Maps | BOCSAR

Thats because the areas with the most murders/shootings are not really "that bad" in that the crimes are gang related and victims are targeted, Auburn is home to most of Sydney's killings but I take my family for dinner there all the time- No issues. These suburbs are ones where you WILL get robed or in a fight no matter who you are unless youre lucky, very very lucky..

Here they are

Macquaire Fields - Theyve had riots, I think like 0.002% of residents own their own home, only slighty more are gainfully employed and the place just sucks balls. Ive visited years ago (to procure drugs) with some pretty hard ass locals and people were still trying to bait me right in front of them.

Google Maps

Next is Bidwell an infamous satellite suburb of Mount Druitt, its really weird here one suburb will be young families who do okay for themselves, hard working, honest family people then a block over you have Bidwell and others, Heavily populated by Pacific Islanders, I have family here and played there as a kid but a male between early teens to middle age doesnt want to get caught alone here at night

Anyone care to share shitholes from your homeland? Id love to take a google stroll around them

Edit - This isnt a pissing contents, I know these are tame compared to say the US.

No ghettos in my town.
Here's Camden, NJ. About a hour drive away.
Google Maps

What in the fucking FUCK? Jesus Christ. No offence but that is categorically third world stuff right there

Im going to have to pull out the big guns and post a link to a remote aboriginal community to get anywhere near that

Edit- Something that really pisses me off is when people dont apply simple common sense, if these guys had parked the bike length wise there would be about 80% more pedestrian space on the side walk - assholes. Also the white girl, raped?

A more enterprising hobo would have a "Mangoes for sale" cardboard box sign under the tree

3rd ward.
A mere 2 miles from the gentrification going on in east downtown ("EaDo" lame!) Is home to a violent crime rate on par with Memphis and Detroit. About 1:11 chance of being a victim of violent crime if you live here...

Then we have the ironically named Sunnyside on the south side that boasts similar violent crime. Flanked by strip malls, this area is just passed by highway for most commuters.

The rare grocery store in these areas is a real eye opener. They don't even sell the same products i buy. 80/20 ground chuck is the leanest hamburger. Kids literally asking me for money in the aisles while I'm shopping. Cops on guard at the entrance and exit during day and night. Fill up your car and someone will also if you can spare putting a couple gallons in their car too.

Just a whole world without options eating itself.

We watched boys in the hood like 600 times when I was 13, we were trying to be gangsters in Middle class Sydney so we set up a dice game (had no idea how to play so just played odds and evens) and basically made the losers steal their parents stuff to pay their "debts" - hair dryers, a wedding ring (to pay an $8 debt), a microwave oven etc

One by one those parents called our parents and we eventually had to go give it all back plus do yard work for them all summer holidays.

Here's my best friends place (sold a year ago) in our hood, his name is Benjamin McGowan -GANGSTA! lol. He is white so he couldnt try and pull off the black gangster thing so he modeled his look on "Lightening" from the AB in blood in blood out.

We must have looked quite a pair, me with my black gangster baggy shit catcher jeans and him with his but with a fake lightening $1 shop tattoo onhis neck and Neo nazi/white power slogans written all over his back pack running around with a black best buddy, it never occurred to me that I should have been offended - lol we were tards

did you grow up in the projects of a fairy tale? looks like snowball the horse and baby horse are hanging out in the meadow by the wall that always gets hit by taggers.
bet it was a culture shock moving to the hilly countryside with nobody around for miles.

Lol the horses are a thing, tailing off now but there was a lot of them loose when I was a kid. Most of them got herded in here in the Mid Noughties, it's just up the street.

Google Maps

That wall is an old war Banner, it's a mural the villagers got together and painted supporting the World Cup USA 94, ha, all the curbs were green white and orange, good times.

Hahaa was a bit ye, I like to think I'm naturalised here now though.

Here in Perth, Australia, we don't really have 'hoods', more like 'public housing projects frequented and lived in by methheads'. Most of the southeastern and northeastern part of the city come to mind, but you could drive through there during the day and not have a problem (you wouldn't have a reason to drive there if you weren't from there, though)

You guys have some the worst aboriginal communities over there in terms of poverty and its about time the iron ore rich WA government pulled its finger out of its ass and did something about it.

Give us some specific suburbs to google mate.

True, but as far as I know we only have a tiny one in WA (Cullacabardee) which is hidden away.

I lived up north in Carnarvon for six months back in 09. Saw an indigenous community just outside town which was pretty fucked up, but apparently nothing compared to other communities.

I'd say Armadale and Midland are among the dodgiest parts of Perth, but as I said if you're just passing by chances are you'd have no problems, it's definitely no Detroit hahahaha
