Here we are yet again! There are few things I truthfully enjoy more than writing this column. I hope you all Enjoy this edition of Viperz Venom and expect to see episode 6 in only a few days. I'm so excited for the next two events I can barely wait so without further ado here we go!
David Teymur 3-1 vs Martin Svensson 14-5
Two UFC debuts in one matchup doesn't really give us much to go on does it? A basic striker vs grappler match up here gets tricky because this will be Svensson's 20th fight, while it is only Teymur's 5th. I immediately wanted to pick a decision here but I'm not going to. I see Svensson's experience and ground game being too much for Teymur to handle.
Pick: Martin Svensson via 2nd Round Submission
Teemu Packalen 7-1 vs Thibault Gouti 11-0
Not without a little early drama at the weigh ins. Both men went directly for their rehydrates after stepping off the scale which is worrisome to me. Nonetheless Gouti comes in on short notice here and even though he is undefeated he is also camp less for this fight. I feel that is enough to give Packalen the nod here.
Pick: Teemu Packalen via Unanimous Decision
Daniel Omielanczuk 17-5-1 vs Jarjis Danho 6-0
Danho bulldozes his way into the UFC in spectacular fashion.
Pick: Jarjis Danho via 1st Round KO/TKO
Norman Parke 22-4-1 vs Rustam Khabilov 17-3
If we looks at the fights above this one on the card there are only a couple that stand out as ones that should be in front of it. Parke looked worried about possibly not hitting the mark on the scale and then during the face off he decided to get into Khabilov's face a little. Some chirping ensued and all of that only adds to my enthusiasm to witness this barn burner tomorrow. Don't get me wrong it definitely has the makings of a complete lay and pray bore fest as well. As long as we see some back and forth between these two it will be a very entertaining fight.
Pick: Rustam Khabilov via Unanimous Decision
Bradley Scott 11-3 vs Krzysztof Jotko 16-1
Our first middleweight match up of the night is a tight one. Both guys have power but Jotko has been known to fight to decision on a large number of occasions while Scott pretty much comes to kill or be killed. With that being said either guy could finish this fight quickly and thats what I predict here. An early stoppage.
Pick: Bradley Scott via 1st Round Submission
Arnold Allen 10-1 vs Yaotzin Meza 21-10
Yaotzin is punchy and even though he has a 4 inch reach advantage that doesn't help him here in the slightest. I predict Yaotzin gets rocked early and never truly recovers allowing Allen to impose his will to a decision.
Pick: Arnold Allen via Unanimous Decision
Scott Askham 13-2 vs Chris Dempsey 11-3
On paper to the naked eye you wouldn't be able to detect why Dempsey is such an underdog here so lets break it down. First thing is first, Askham looks at least 3 times the size of Dempsey, its amazing how they can both weigh the same and have the face off look like Werdum and Mcgregor would if they squared off. Secondly Askham stands southpaw and has a reach advantage, the truth is Dempsey won't even have enough time to charge in to land one of his own here. To conclude Askham is a finisher, and thats exactly what he will do in front of his home english crowd.
Pick: Scott Askham via 1st Round Murder (KO/TKO)
Davey Grant 9-2 vs Marlon Vera 7-2-1
Two absolute devastators on the ground here, this fight is going to come down to who wants it more. Honestly Vera is in enemy territory and if that affects him at all, he will lose this fight. This is going to be a close one guys.
Pick: Davey Grant via Majority Decision
Mike Wilkinson 9-1 vs Makwan Amirkhani 12-2
Unfortunately for my English fans I'm going to have to give you a small amount of bad news. Amirkhani has the reach advantage and is just the better fighter here. He either wraps Wilkinson up in a submission hold or cruises to a decisive decision victory.
Pick: Makwan Amirkhani via Unanimous Decision
Francisco Rivera 11-5 vs Brad Pickett 25-11
win or lose most people have reported and suspect that this will be the last time we see Pickett enter the octagon. The problem with picking Pickett to win is that he has a glass jaw and Rivera has one punch KO power.
Pick: Francisco Rivera via 2nd Round KO/TKO
Tom Breese 9-0 vs Keita Nakamura 31-6-2
When a fighter refuses to retire and they are under the UFC flagship Dana has this way of throwing a vet to the wolves so to speak. This is one of those fights. This fight is so lop sided if it were a woman it would have no choice to get plastic surgery just to try and hide how lop sided it is. Breese puts Nakamura away however he pleases here.
Pick: Tom Breese via 1st Round KO/TKO
Gegard Mousasi 37-6-2 vs Thales Leites 25-5
2 absolute veterans on the game come to a head here. Both men looking to make their way back up the ranks to obtain a title shot. Though I don't expect either one of them to get there again in their respective careers this will be a good fight. Even though we saw very much improved striking from Leites in his last couple of fights I still don't feel its on the same level as Mousasi's.
Pick: Gegard Mousasi via 2nd Round KO/TKO
Anderson Silva 33-6 vs Michael Bisping 28-7
its amazing to think these two have been competing in the same weight class, in the same organization for over a decade and haven't crossed paths. Well Bisping has always been a win all the ones that don't matter type of fighter. Bisping looks incredibly focused for this fight but I don't see where he can win it. Bisping doesn't have one punch KO power, he wears on you, thats his fighting style. Silva waits for one opening and finishes the fight. 40 year old Silva or not mama didn't raise no fool. You DO NOT bet AGAINST Anderson Silva.
Pick: Anderson Silva via 2nd Round KO/TKO
Well that concludes another episode of Viperz Venom. I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I did writing. Please feel free to leave me any constructive criticism you have or ideas on ways to make my column better. Though I won't be watching these fights live tomorrow as I don't have a subscription to fight pass I will be watching them the moment they come available for download on my nearest torrent or streaming website. I appreciate every single reader. Thanks again.
