Replace laws with system of justice. Maybe they were counting on not getting caught for the murder part?
In Australia id have to pay less for their treatment too since they're dead but morals aside id be way too worried about getting done for murder to even contemplate saving a quid by reversing over them.
What is it about china's legal framework (if anything ) that encourages people to think that way?

No, it doesn't make sense. The legal framework seems fine (superficially), it's the shitty culture of money over people.
Noone despises mainland Chinese more than Hong Kong Chinese. There were riots last year cuz thousands of them were flooding the city everyday doing shit like you see in that video. It got to a point where mainlanders flying through HK airport had to hold signs saying they're not staying in HK to avoid getting beat up. lol
I don't think it's to do with laws.
It's to do with the culture/upbringing having a lack of empathy and holding the value of a stranger's life very cheaply.
Look at what happens when people are badly injured or a toddler walks on the highway in China, people just totally ignore them and keep on going about their day, because their day is more important than potentially saving another person's life. They don't give a fuk about anyone else. Western countries seem to care more about their fellow man,I would think most people wouldn't finish off a fellow human been just for monetary benefit here, (you're just a unique kind of wanker

I heard the reason people dont help others in distress there is because the law will hold you accountable to their injuries, im looking it up now, you heard of this? there was talk of it when everyone was questioning why passers by tend not to help people in distress over there when that toddler getting run over video came out.
I had a staff member from Beijing who got upset when people blamed the population being so big when that video came out, she said it was for the above reason. Im searching for info now but that doesnt seem like a sound legal system even superficially.

Had any of those Wang Yue criminals been around me and gotten off with a lax 3.5 year sentence for murder, there would have been grave consequences.
Was out in China in December, never saw this kind of behaviour once. Though there driving leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't know for sure but this story sounds like extreme bullshit. What a lame blackmail. Some gutter urchin spreading rumours about me at work? Who gives a fuck? And that threat has nothing to do with hitting the woman with their car. Anyone could make that same threat.
