It's because the culture is so ridiculously money minded. They overwhelming put money over morals.

* Eat as much as you want? They'll go for the most expensive food and take it all. Pushing people out the way and leaving none for anyone else is irrelevant.

* If they hit someone in their car, they have to pay medical/living expenses. Cheaper to make sure they're dead, even though they risk murder charges.

* I've given examples of their safety engineering. They DGAF.
Money has some to do with it but the underlying ideology is to strive for a life of excess.

Gold toilet anyone??

What more excess than 4 plates of jumbo prawns you wont eat but you have the option if you choose So?

How do you like my salad tower?

I don't think it's to do with laws.
It's to do with the culture/upbringing having a lack of empathy and holding the value of a stranger's life very cheaply.
Look at what happens when people are badly injured or a toddler walks on the highway in China, people just totally ignore them and keep on going about their day, because their day is more important than potentially saving another person's life. They don't give a fuk about anyone else. Western countries seem to care more about their fellow man,I would think most people wouldn't finish off a fellow human been just for monetary benefit here, (you're just a unique kind of wanker ;) ).
At one time China had Confucius values like Japan and Korea but that changed under Maos communism.
It isn't actually true that they don't want to help, It's that they don't want to be implicated for a crime they didn't commit. If you see a hit and run victim and rush to their aide, the family could turn their finger on you since the real culprit is gone and they want someone culpable to pay the bills. This goes back to times of communism where you mind your own business unless it is your business. So people just move along like they saw nothing. You still have people who go against the fray like the garbage worker who was the only one to help the little girl who got run over the the lorrie. However you see no one else willing to stop and help. Luckily it was filmed and the worker was a hero but in any other circumstance the family could have turned around and blamed her for the child's injuries because they needed someone to be culpable for medical or funeral costs.

Thank this guy for creating a culture of unsympathtic paranoia.

Yeah I suppose youre right, its the culture, I cant read Chinese so cant really look into the laws over there. You cant blame the everyday Chinese though, a wise man once said Confucius + Chairman Mao no good for a society.
Confucius was great. Mao was anti Confucius and this is the result. People who aren't governed by a belief system of good and bad (the equivalant to western christianity) but the self as a tool to further a greater good in harmony to the billions of other "soldiers". Soldiers don't stick their nose where it doesn't belong or make independent decisions that could effect others.

India is arguably more populated, Hong Kong is more densely populated yet neither of the latter groups act like animals like this.
I went to India back in 2008 and theyre also pretty fucked. Not necessarily like the Chinese in the video, but they have no concept of lining up..it’s push and shove and every man for himself..not to mention the state of the streets there too.
