Miesha V. McMann was a razor thin decision.where it could be argued McMann won 2 rounds before Miesha laid on her for the entire 3rd round. I gave the fight to McMann and if anything it should have been a draw if the last round was scored a 10-8. Miesha got the victory but it was a split decision.
I agree with you. She beat Jessica Eye fair and square at what Eye does best and showed a noticeable improvement in her striking and foot movement. This fight made it clear Miesha was working hard to improve her stand up skills and it later played a huge role in her beating Holly.
Cat beat her bloody. The same thing you're saying about Miesha showing an "Edgar-like ability to come back from adversity" is what Cat showed in this fight because she lost the first 2 rounds badly.
Break out the lube and tissue because.....
“There’s not going to be a division for a while, but the next division when there is one will be 125,” White said when asked if the organization will ever add a female heavyweight division. “So I’ll have a 115, 125 and 135."
Next UFC weight class to be added? Female 125-pound flyweights
The reason I think Miesha is an average fighter is because she doesn't excel at any one skill. She's tough as nails, no doubt but her wrestling and grappling are average and though her stand up has improved a lot over the last couple of fights she's not finishing fights by strikes. She had 4 decisions in a row before stopping Holly with a choke, before that she was finished by Cat and Ronda. She beat Holly but she was also 2 minutes from losing the fight as well. The victory was legitimate though. She exposed Holly's weakness on the ground.
Miesha can be compared to Cat. She's good but not great but most times mentally tougher than the woman she's fighting. She's not in the same group skill-wise as Ronda, Nunes or Holly. All 3 of them have their weaknesses but I think they either possess an overwhelming skill like Holly's defensive footwork and precise strikes that make her extremely difficult to match up with or are just more well rounded like Nunes and Ronda.
Nunes, Ronda and Holly are the big 3 just based on what I've seen of their fights. Then you have Miesha, Cat, Davis and maybe Pena in the 2nd tier. McMann, Eye and Kaufman are on the lower tier and borderline top 10 at this point of their careers.
