Ok, so I need some advice for our family vacation we're planning for our kids fall break in October.
Freeport Bahamas or Kauai? Duration 10 days.
My wife's sister & her husband live on Kauai. They own a 3BR condo about 20 minutes from the beach, where we could stay. I have enough miles to get our family to LAX. From there, I would have to pay for the flights to Kauai, which are approximately $650 each + $100 in bags & fees. So $3000 in flights. We would have to rent a car, so $600-$700 for that. Then another $2500 for groceries & entertainment. So approximately $6000. We have been to been to Oahu for 2 weeks when they got married, and loved the experience. Problem with this scenario is, my wife's mom & dad, grandmother, and aunt are talking about going out there sometime this year as well...and my guess is, they will want to go when we do. I love her family. but they went to Oahu and I hate traveling with them. Everyone has different tastes, ideas, opinions...no one wants to make a decision, and we end up doing things half the group doesn't want to do. Never fails.
Freeport. Never been. I have enough miles to get the family to Miami. Flights from Miami to Freeport are approximately. $290 + $100 in bags & fees. So $1600 in flights. We would rent a car. Already checked and it's $535 for the 10 days. Found a great condo on the beach for $1075.00 for 10 days. Then another $2500 in groceries and entertainment. So approximately $5700 - $6000. Same as Kauai. Big difference here is, we would be traveling alone...just our family. Wake up when we want, go where we want, relax, nobody to deal with, etc.
Which option would you choose?
