All of this. Anyone who believes Machida's story with the declaration is being sold a bill of goods. This is grade A damage control, just like Anderson with the sex pills nonsense. Somehow Ed Soares has become a master at this stuff. DHEA seems harmless to the layman so it's easy to claim that oneed a form and seem like it was an honest mix up with confusing bureaucracy when in actuality he was probably caught by surprise and knew he would've popped for something worse.I wrote in the other thread a response to this situation.
It's on the list for better or worse or valid/invalid reasons since 2012. He's a successful pro athlete and USADA offered aid to the fighters when this kicked in and has the info very easily searchable.
He declared something with 7-KETO-DHEA on a list of OOC substances when presented a cup, it flagged. It also really depends on if that test would even catch it with the timing involved on whether he was trying to be pre-emptive or ignorant of the contents.
So,
He either really "Didn't know"
OR
He figured it out AFTER he took it and now is trying to fail the listing infraction instead of it getting to a potential testing infraction.
I'm more inclined to agree that he was just not paying attention but trying to say it was recently banned, is likely something someone close to him told him to say in defense and it's futile because USADA KNOWS WHEN IT WAS BANNED 4+ YEARS AGO.
As we've long been saying, there are very few clean fighters, especially those who have been around for awhile.
