Converations are happening about a Dredd series

Karl Urban is really putting in effort to get some sort of sequel for Dredd going. Since Dredd was "commercially unsucessful" a movie sequel would be hard to pitch not for lack of trying. Fans have started online petitions and driving up blu-ray and DVD sales to gain interest.

Urban was at the Calgary Comic Expo this weekend and mentioned talks with Amazon and Netflix about a Dredd series are happening.

I personally enjoyed the movie and find Judge Dredd to be an incredibly interesting character. Hopefully one of this companies, preferably netflix because I have a subscription already, get on board.

They will make it into a procedural cop drama though I'm sure.

I definitely liked the film and if they avoid the above AND don't include any of the gods (or w/e they're called) I could get behind a series for sure. They already killed the bad guy (woman) so no worries about not being able to include other stars from the movie, although I really think having Anderson is essential to it and I'm not sure I'd get behind a different actress, at least initially.

I would think they'd be able to get the same actress for Anderson. She doesn't seem like someone who's in high demand or attached to another series.

hard to say with this being just a tentative idea rather than sure to happen, but looking at her IMDB she's finished the first season of a new series that hasn't aired yet, but she's not the actress I thought she was anyway so you're probably right.

I've still got a small collection of the larger style Judge Dredd comics that I inherited, love the art in the coloured ones.

it's a really sick universe and could easily handle spin offs

Nice. I know they've been campaigning HARD for a sequel for years now. Hopefully this will satiate fans. I don't know much about the Dredd comics but I liked the 2012 movie.
