That will be a sad day. One of my fondest memories was when he gave my friends and I high fives after he and GoldIie did their pre card talk in the stands.

It was a big moment for my friend. He was the one who had got me into MMA and he had watched it from the start in the 90's. He could never afford tickets, so when I bought him 300 dollar seats, he was estatic. Having Joe and Goldie in front of him was special.

I hope Joe doesn't retire anytime soon.

I'm sure that job has its pain in the ass moments, but man...what a tough job to walk away from.

Thats cool. it seem like he wasn't too happy with where UFC was headed but since he's such a loyal guy he kept his mouth shut. And if Dana and them leave, i guess there aren't any reasons for him to stay. I'm sure Joe is on top of doing what is best for himself and his family.

I guess upside to this will be more Fight Companion Podcasts for big cards!

Rogan catches a lot of shit, but events just arent the same without him. He is really good at what he does.

he will be missed for sure. I always get bummed when I see he's not commentating an event. he's been a staple of the ufc brand for eons and it won't be the same with him gone. Few commentators share his passion and knowledge together.

I'd say thanks to Joe Rogan if he decides to walk in August. His ability to educate new fans (even myself before I trained) on what they're watching when a guy sets up a kimura (for example) added both education and credibility to the UFC and the sport of MMA, especially when you consider Rogan's jiu jitsu and other martial arts experience. It wasn't brawl room brawling like the newbs thought, it's an art. Add to that he added a comic flair to his presentation on the air, which you can't replace with Stann, Hardy, Florian or anyone else they're already grooming on these overseas Fight Pass shows who sometimes fill Rogan's role.

Only one man could adequately replace the credibility and comedic value of Rogan, IMHO:

Bring in bill burr or al bundy

Partner him with jimmy smith.

Have nhb era fighters as guests or current membera of the fox studio panel. Dominic cruz is an excellent analyst. the count talks a good talk. Cormier is decent.

Or fuck it maybe bobb sapp

I like that guy hes funny

Or if they can afford it maybe bring in the wolfman. He likes to break down that shit (mostly because he invented half of it)

So you're saying Goldberg would be more successful without the UFC?

In 2005, Goldberg was offered a contract to work for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), to be the head announcer on the WWEs flagship show RAW.[3] He was also reportedly offered an extra six-figure amount to no-show at a UFC event prior to starting work for WWE.[4] Ultimately, Goldberg refused the WWE contract and signed a new deal with the UFC.

He is the former TV play-by-play announcer for the Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild and ESPN2 Hockey. He has also done fill-in work for the Phoenix CoyotesTV broadcasts, and he also called PPV games for the Vancouver Canucks in the 1990s. Before that, he worked at WWSB-40 in Sarasota, Florida 1987 - 1988.

Goldberg is the announcer for the Lingerie Bowl. He also does play-by-play commentary for FSN's broadcasts of the Red Bull Air Race World Series.

Goldberg also serves as the play-by-play announcer and co-host of Shaquille O'Neal's sports reality television show Shaq Vs..

He has also called Arizona Cardinals preseason telecasts, and called a regular season Detroit Lions-Minnesota Vikings game for Fox in 2014. Goldberg was supposed to become a regular play-by-play man for Fox's NFL telecasts in 2014, but poor response to his play-by-play, followed by Goldberg's often obscene off-air replies to that response, prompted Fox to replace Goldberg with Tim Brando.[5] In 2015 Goldberg will fill-in for Steve Byrnes on NASCAR Camping World Truck Series telecasts on Fox Sports 1 during Weeks 6-8 of NFL season while Mike Joy and Adam Alexander on Fox NFL assignment during MLB Playoffs.

The guy is so fucking stupid, it's embarrassing. Check this Twitter meltdown. He's a true idiot. And not a lovable one.

Honestly having to call every big fight would kind of suck.

Eventually you'd want to sit back, crack a beer, and just enjoy the show.

But I hope he commentates til he is shitting his pants.

Yes it would but damn...ringside seats at every major show and getting paid buckets of cash to be there? Bittersweet!
