Joe Rogan discusses the possible Mayweather/Conor fight, what happened during lunch with DFW/Diaz and which is harder: going from boxing to MMA or the other way around.

He also addresses his eventual split from the UFC.

RS: What about the rumors that the UFC is for sale?

JR: Um, I don't know about that, I don't know what's going on. You know, I get conflicting stories about that. But if the sale goes through, I'm a ghost. That's a fact. That's a fact.

RS: Yeah? You'll be gone?

JR: I'm not working for anybody else. If the sale goes through I'm outta there. I'm already wondering whether or not I can continue doing this as it is. I willalways be a fan, I'll always love it, but shit, I've been working for the UFC on and off for almost 20 years. And that's more than I've done anything in my life. I'd like to move on. The only other thing I've done longer than that is stand-up comedy, but you know, with stand-up comedy I'm constantly writing new material, I'm traveling, I do it out of my schedule, I do it whenever I want. You know, it's a very different thing calling fights rather than just being a fan. I'll always be a fan, for sure, but as far as calling fights...boy, I don't see that going on very much longer.

He is either looking for one last big contract re-negotiation from them or is legitimately done.

Will be a really sad day when Joe is no longer calling the big fights.

Well shit. If Zuffa sells to the Chinese, who will run that other place?

I think he's done. He's been talking a lot over the years about his life being way too busy and trying to simplify things. He obviously doesn't need the money, and there are probably a lot of other opportunities out there for him in the entertainment world.

I agree it will be a sad day. He said a lot of dumb shit over the years but he was still the best colour commentator in the business.

Good riddance. One shill less.
A little harsh yo, he has to toe the line but is the best as far as calling fights.

He let Nate talk his shit and was being yelled at by the guys in the truck to cut him off............and that resulted in a £500,000 check the UFC had to cut.....

He's good and there isn't a more passionate replacement out there that keeps my interest...........I will miss him

The honest thing for him to do would be to speak on his podcast or some other non-ufc place and say from the get-go: I'm employed by the ufc, ergo I can't really talk about other organizations and I will avoid doing so.

Instead he shits on every other organization that isn't the ufc, he talks about Bellator only when there's something negative to talk about, otherwise he pretends it never happened. The examples are endless, Cain is the best hw of all time because Fedor has all this asterisks due to not fighting in the ufc, Ronda was the shit and Cyborg was just a roided up transvestite before she joined the ufc, now she's in the ufc she is the best female fighter ever out there.

Even Helwani is more objective than Rogan.

Edit: and no he's not the best at calling fights...the best at calling fights were Bas Rutten and Mauro Renallo.

Bas, where as I love him, no homo, did his best work on doing voice overs of fights that had already happened. Hell, I remembering him commenting on the handsome corner man of a fighter who was, well, Bas. I'd love to have Bas and Joe as a tandem. Mauro? Never understood the love he received.

He doesn't need money anymore, and seems, to me at least, that he likes to do things his way. I think he's done, he's been getting more and more criticism the last few years, and frankly deserves at least some of it. It won't be the same without him, but that might be a good thing - as long as Goldie gets shuffled out the door with him.

Bas Rutten is terrible at calling fights now. maybe he was good back in the day, but, frankly, his knowledge of the sport sucks now compared to Stann or Hardy. I still think the UFC should go to a 3 man booth, so the colour commentator doesn't have to rely on the play by play guy so much.

Hardy is very good, his "ooh that almost connected" and "he tagged him" are second to only rogan......they see stuff we don't see....I'm thinking, no Dan you're wrong, but replay again makes me humble and realise Dan and rogan are the best

Rogan brings just the right blend of analysis and enthusiasm. None of the fighters who have stepped in to do commentary have been able to match both. We get plenty of technical notes from fighters, but no energy. Bas may talk about the liver too much, but he seems genuinely excited by fights. If Rogan goes, the voice of the sport goes with him (sorry Schiavello)

I think Tank and Frye would be a great pair to commentate. FOX would love it....or not.
