It's equally as petty and ridiculous to break a companies big announcement while you're sitting at their event enjoying inside access and extra benefits from that company. Again what they took from him did not effect his ability to do his job in anyway. The pity party and the tmz drama this whole ordeal has become is just sad.
Banning a media member from the backstage area during a show absolutely affects his ability to do his job.

Journalists naturally have huge egos (at least the really good ones), I've learned from experience.

But in terms of him crying... it's always awkward seeing a grown man cry. Especially over something so (relatively) insignificant.

I just picture him going home that night and crying and punching the air like Tre in Boyz in the Hood. I haven't cried since Mickey died in Rocky 3 when I was 10. I just don't think it's how men should conduct themselves.

You have probably, thankfully, never had to face the possibility that everything you have worked for, for your entire life, might be taken from you, and the ability to provide for your family is in jeopardy.
cant believe navytwink needs this explained. seriously.

I pay attention to ariel's tweets, podcasts and whatever mma stuff hes talking about..

Soooo not interested in the drama of ariel helwani's life though. Unless he triangle choked somebody..i dont wanna know about it.

I do hope all 3 of the banned journalists can carry on to make a living.. and get back to normal operations asap.

He can't still go to events to report on them? Or even set up interviews with fighters?
He loses special access, which he had obviously abused, but his ability to report on the sport is effected in no way.

Any journalist nowadays depends on content to stay afloat. Not just stories, but content in general. MMAfighting.com needs the access to the backstage areas to interview fighters and get the stories that they produce, stories that the UFC benefits greatly from. They also need media credentials to take pictures and video to use in their articles, because they can't just take the UFC's published pictures and use them. They have to produce their own. It's not as simple as you are making it out to be. They don't allow professional photography unless you are a credentialed member of the media.

If you think that what he did is "abuse" special access, then you've gotta have the same beef with nearly every other journalist out there, because all of them would have reported the Brock news had they received it when Ariel received it. Sure, the UFC can be annoyed by Ariel getting the jump on them and they have helped him out, but the publicity that Ariel Helwani has generated for the UFC over the years is unprecedented when it comes to a media member. The favors work both ways.

Saw someone post on Twitter..."says he doesn't want it to be about himself. Does 2 hour show about himself"

Funny and maybe some merit to it, but I think him using that platform to air some dirty laundry was good for MMA.

Not sure if it was a tongue in cheek comment but I don't see it this way. If that's the case then you may as well accuse anybody with a mic in their hand or camera in front of them egomaniacs. The guys job is to inform the public through sight and sound, he's not a writer. How else would one do this? It was by far the biggest story in mma and he was in the thick of it, so who else better to speak for two hours on it?

Well I guess that disproves my RVD is really Ariel Helwani theory.

Listen to his podcast they've done him a shit ton of favors. Again they are a private company that can pick and choose which media outlets to allow special access at their events. Why would they want to extend that to someone who's breaking one of their big announcements while he's sitting enjoying special access at that very event. He can still be a journalist just as effectively without that pass. He was within his rights to break their announcement and they were within theirs to revoke his credentials. That's business, move on. Don't start a Twitter pod cast cry for me campaign.

It's sarcasm and a bit of my dislike of the guy. [shrugs] I was behind him until listening to that podcast. Now i just am over the whole thing. I hate the mermaid and I hate zuffa, just leaving it at that.
