One of these little fuckers....sorry I mean young emo lads is trying to get friendly wit my daughter. I have no clue what its supposed to be. Is it just some "I don't fit wit regular" fashions thing, or do I need to be worries?

Oh and I'm from rural Minnesota. So I really am clueless. I thought I'd ask you guys before I did a Google on this trend or whatever.

Fuck those emo types. I live in a beautiful resort town and I see those pricks getting dropped off at the mall by mom in her BMW when its hot as fuck out lookin all sad and shit while wearing all black with a hood on. I just want to scream in their ears "YOU GOT IT MADE ASSHOLE! WHAY ARE YOU SAD ABOUT!?"

I can't understand why anybody would worry about different fashion sense. It's just a fashion statement, much like the many ALL of us went through and thought it was cool at the time. Let's not act like our parents over a harmless trend that doesn't involve violence or drugs.

The kid doesn't exist that you're going to say 'oh yea, that guy is perfect'.

They just don't to be viewed as pampered, so like women they invent something to bitch about, like their own attire.
What outcasts!

Explain to him very succinctly that you have a buddy with access to a boat, a cement mixer, and a loosely defined set of morals. :D

They'd just think they're going fishing, but gonna make the fish dizzy in the mixer.

The fashion isn't the problem really. Its that apart of that role includes the need to portray a constant state of sadness regardless of the situation, that's the fucked up part.

That seems to be something that adults who hate hipsters have dreamed up. NY is filled to the brim with emos/hipsters, none of which appear to be sad about much of anything.

Maybe there is a culture amongst these guys that do that, but assigning that to someone without knowing them is a bit unfair......just like claiming we were homeless when we wore these was....

The kid is probably harmless but I would encourage your daughter to date someone that has a better grip on reality. Emo hipsters are weirdos that wind up working in a coffee shop for the rest of their lives while they aspire to be a musician or some type of "artist".

If you force your daughter to date who you like she will do the opposite. How many guys will she date before she gets married? How many will be losers?

You can't anticipate this before it happens, you just have to follow the script and be a good father. Trying to shit on someone before anything happens just makes a potentially nothing situation seem more attractive than it is....

Also, considering where all of us come from it just seems a bit hypocritical.
