Got this same bike(basically, it was an '85 and I had an '87) when I was 12, an '87 Yamaha YZ 80, first new bike I ever got. $995 out the door. Probably one of the best days of my childhood.

NICE! DZ400!? The best part of that bike is the gold rims, love them. I'm going to price out what it would cost to street my CR450X just to see. Very nice bike and welcome to the new blood.

The advantage of living in a village in the middle of nowhere (eg Kelowna) is that you have awesome natural scenery to enjoy. An awesome lake and I bet tearing around the trails is a blast.

I've just bought my little boy an electric fun bike - I don't think he'll get a go cos I love it

Lol you're gonna hog up all the bikes time? I don't blame you, super fun. That spot I posted is 15-20 minutes from my house. You can't really see but its a mini track for small bikes to burn around. The surrounding area is miles and miles of great trails for dirt bikes and quads all groomed and setup like a ski hill with trail markers and level of difficulty. I'm lucky to have such a good are to ride so close.

I used to. Alot. When I lived in San Diego I rode alot while I was in the military. 2 months before i got out i was riding in Ocotillo Wells and ate shit. I woke up and thought i was at the Lake Elsinore track. It never felt the same again. I was a new father and was worried about getting hurt as a civillian vs being active duty. When AD i rode like a fucking maniac because i didnt have to worry about losing income. I know myself and im just better staying on 4 wheels. Im kind of an idiot there too. I gave up dirt bikes for drifting lmao.

Wow! That little dude is 3? Very impressive! My boys 4 and he's doing similar things and I thought that was impressive, good work. Where is that park at?
Cheers :) Yeah, he's very athletic and was riding on 2 wheels at two years old. On the flip side, he's quite a jerk, so swings and roundabouts LOL.

The park is by my house, so we ride down together and then I let him ride it by himself. A mini moto is cheaper than this electric bike but I don't want him doing 30mph hahaha.

Good for him :). Here's the wife just getting her training wheels off, look how proud she is.

Great example with protective equipment as well.

So I sold the CRF450X, just too much bike for the tight trails I prefer to ride. I picked up a WR250F, put a FMF pipe on it along with some other easy mods and got it dialed in for our altitude and it rips :)

Agreed. I'm 6' 200lbs roughly and it hauls me around no problem at all, plenty of power and nimble as fuck. I found very few times where I could get my 450 into third gear as the trails too tight. It's nice to have a little room for error too when you crack the throttle open as opposed to smashing a tree or coming over backwards.

Man, I used to ride dirt bikes when I was a kid. Haven't been on one for years now. I'd love to add one to my garage somewhere down the road.

SOLD!!! I just sold my bike today for $1650 CA. I threw in a set of boots that I had, a jersey, gloves, manual, spark plug and back pack. I didn't use those other items but were all in good shape and I was happy it sold. I'm now actively looking for either a 250 cc 2 stroke or 4 stroke. If anybody has an opinion of either I'd be interested to hear.
If I were weigh in on this, I would say go with the two stroke. They are lighter and cost a fraction of the 4 stroke to rebuild. I have an 06' CRF 450R. I ride northern Ontario on the OFSC trails. If I were get another bike, it would likely be the CRF___X model. It is a trail version of the R. Much easier to handle on single track.
