So the scientific ability to distinguish would have to have a 100% success rate to convince you?

exceptions cannot exist in the standard you hold for geneticists classifying people by race?
No not at all. There would just have to be a statistically significant replicable link of traits across a population group that was near impossible in another defined group.

I think you are using genetic mutation here as a debate point to suggest there are no racial groups, albino dogs exist same as African human Albinos...

those are gene mutations inside those race groups & species
Precisely. The differences within groups due to mutations are greater than those between groups supposedly of a different "race." Again, the derivations whether by mutation or other catalysts between groups are not significant enough to say there are subspecies of human, which ultimately is what a physical basis means.

Leigh,

Real curious here if you don't mind spending a few more minutes on this topic (we are well past the point of changing each others mind obviously)...

You mentioned having the opposite view a few years ago and your mind was changed, what were your points/positions on race being physically real when you held such belief? (your side of the discussion that converted you)
I see Leigh mentioned that I went through the same process myself as youre asking him about.

Up until a few months ago I truly believed that there were 4 main groups Negros, caucasians, mongoloids and Austronesians and that all the sub groups were part of a larger group OR a mixture there of EG one close to home for you, Polynesians from Hawaii I assumed were Mongoloids and Polynesians from Tonga a mixture of Mongoloids and Austronesian sub group Melanesian. Even based in incorrect dated science I was wrong (on wrong)

Then I clashed heads with Leigh and others here and set off to prove them wrong. Here's my challenge to you, take any racial subclass either one of the big three or smaller and give me a definitive definition of what makes them a unique group to the exclusion of all others and if you can Im happy to jump ship.

I also accept that we may very well come to the point that scientists will be able to define races but its such a fucking long shot if you read up in depth on how we got to where we are.

We can definitely identify genes which are unique to certain population groups but that doesnt make them unique or a separate "race" its just a case of pro-race people back filling the definition to suit their agenda

Also factor in all those other upright standing human like beings our common ancestors fucked and or decimated, were all over the place there with the main and common thread being our ancestors who came out of Africa "like a Bawse" and took over the world by out fucking the hobbits lol

I haven't been clear enough, my position doesn't include anything definitive and I can't describe what you ask for because it does not exist and when I think it did predated the recent ability to classify

Nah but those fuckers almost got me.

We all went through that stage between HS and college or work where we slept in till 1400 only to wake up to catch Ricky Lake, anyways these two clean cut american mormons turned up at my door and I was bored, stoned and looking for something to do so I let them in for a chat.

Fast forward a few weeks and theyve talked me into getting baptized, so the morning of my baptism my dad wakes me up and says that someone is on the phone for me. Its the americunts telling me everyone is at the church waiting for me to get there, theres over 100 people waiting so where the fuck am I???? I think I either made some lame excuse or hung up on them and pulled the phone out and went back to bed.

I used to see them riding around on their push bikes and the fuckers would stare daggers into me, not very christian of them eh?

It's a compelling argument, but it's also paradoxical to the original point. The definition of the word race never meant to imply "subspecies" until it became offensive.

What distinct physical traits do members of a race share?
I posted the picture. We're focusing on the microscopic now while ignoring the original meaning of the word. The differing physical traits are there. But we're digging so hard to pretend they don't exist. Feels like a giant defense mechanism if I'm being honest.

We're having a scientific discussion about race being either a social or genetic construct. A dictionary might not be the best place to look for evidence. Just because a word means a certain thing doesn't make it fact.

Do physical traits exist among groups of people. Of course but they are in no way a defining factor of race.

What if someone doesn't share those "distinctive" physical traits? Can they not be part of that race then?
You mean a statistical anomaly? Why refocus the word in that direction while ignoring the averages seen in the picture?

Nobody said it was a genetic thing until the world of sociology challenged the word.
