A man identified by Jon Jones allegedly fled the scene of a car accident on foot and marijuana was later found in what is believed to be Jones' rental car, according to a police report obtained by MMAFighting.com.

The UFC light heavyweight champion is the suspect in a three-car, hit-and-run accident that took place Sunday morning in Albuquerque, N.M., MMAFighting.com reported Sunday. The Albuquerque Police Department is still seeking Jones for questioning and has been unable to contact him. New details emerged in the police report Monday morning.

Witnesses said the driver who started the accident exited his vehicle, then went back to grab a "large handful of cash." The man was described as African American and wearing a white shirt with dark pants. He allegedly ran north from the accident scene and hopped a fence. Officers were unable to find him.

Inside the man's vehicle, a silver Buick SUV, police found a marijuana pipe with marijuana in it and "paperwork belonging to a Jonathan Jones, which had MMA information on it from the state of Nevada," the report stated. There was also Enterprise rental car paperwork inside the vehicle. Several phone calls placed to Jones at the time were unsuccessful.

An off-duty police officer identified the man fleeing the vehicle as Jones, the MMA fighter, according to the report. The off-duty officer also described the man as wearing a white shirt with dark pants. He saw him run up a dirt hill.

The driver whose car was initially hit, a pregnant woman in her 20s, was taken to the hospital, because she felt like "she was going to pass out," the report stated. The woman said she was struck by the vehicle believed to be driven by Jones after it ran a red light. Police said Sunday that she has minor injuries.

Albuquerque PD spokesman Tanner Tixier confirmed with MMAFighting.com on Monday morning that police still have not heard from Jones nor his lawyer.

"We are currently following up with the victim to check on her health status," Tixier said.
"We need to confirm the severity of the injuries before we file charges."

Jones is scheduled to defend his title against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas. The UFC released the following statement Sunday night:

In just going to keep repeating. The UFC, his family, his friends all let him down by enabling this behavior last December. If those groups had done what was right he'd have a hard time for 6 months, be embarrassed, but wouldn't be this far fucked. The guy has his own responsibility, but the responses from the UFC and those close to him were just to support this behavior. It will get worse if he able to wiggle out of this net.

Too much too young. The guy was thrown into stardom at an early age (even earlier locally) and his smugness has been apparent since he won the belt. He thinks he's untouchable and if he keeps getting let off the hook that's never gonna change.

I desperately want to see him fight rumble though, the guy is incredible in the cage, I just wish that enormous level of talent oozed into his private life, where he continually seems to suffer from idiot syndrome.

I already regard him as one of, if not the greatest ever, but I wonder if in 20 years his legacy will be that of a great athlete or another guy who threw it all away.

Because you only get so many chances before you really fuck up

Oh, what I would give to see this. Imagine if someone caught footage on their phone of Jones hopping out of the car and bee lining it up a dirt hill.

If the part about the weed pipe is true.... We may be seeing the beginning of the downward spiral of the evolutionary chain. He gets tested for weed in less than 30 days. He pops hot on a post fight test and he loses the fight regardless and "I think" the belt too. His fight is less than 30 days away, hence the test. All brawn no brains.

Splinty makes a good point.......letting him through that whole debacle now has him in a worse position....I hate to admit it, but it is true.

Now that they raised the limit of accepted metabolite levels, I think it's much easier to get away with smoking prior to the fight.

....Unless you're Nick Diaz.

When Joe Rogan @Joe Rogan says you smoke "a LOOOT of weed", chances are you're setting the cup on fire anyway.

Jon Jones: 'I was always the kid that snitched' - Five Ounces of Pain

Jon Jones: ‘I was always the kid that snitched’

December 4, 2009

As a kid I was never popular,” admitted “Bones” in a recent conversation with Sherdog.com. “I was always kind of just nice to everyone. I don’t know. It was always about me and my brothers growing up. My parents kept us pretty sheltered. We were never allowed to spend the night at our friends’ house, not once. We were always taught to take care of our family and do the right things.”

In Jones eyes, doing the right thing definitely included spilling the beans anytime he witnessed anything he judged to be wrong as an adolescent.

“I’ve always been a person who tries to do the right thing in life, for the most part,” said Jones. “I’m no angel, but I was always the kid who snitched on the kids who had pot. I don’t want to offend the pot smokers out there, but I was kind of just a snitch. I was just down for people doing the right thing. My parents kind of raised me to be a good guy. I’ve always been down for the good side, I guess.

A sad episode to be sure, but I agree with Splinty and the others who have said that UFC enabled his behavior. Too often in our celebrity-driven culture stardom is heaped upon those who are unable to handle its demands. Jones is a special athlete, no doubt about it, but, like the many failed lives who have come before him, he seems destined to become another chapter in the book of lost chances for true greatness. If there is help to be had for him, I hope he gets it, before it, really, is too late.

Don't care before I get the full story. Sorry.
Whole sport is going TMZ before the facts are in, mostly because Jones is universally disliked. I can't help but think about all the excuses that would exist if his last name were Sonnen.

There are better places to spend time bashing Jones, imo.

JBJ vs AJ was such a good matchup. I could not be more disappointed if/when it doesn't go down

I don't think anyone is bashing him. We all respect him as a fighter and many of us consider him to be the best in the world, maybe the best ever. That doesn't change the fact that he continues to make bad choices and trip over his own feet.

There is nothing TMZ about the article above. These are details released by the Albuquerque PD and there is a mountain of evidence to suggest that Jones is guilty.

I have no sympathy for anyone who gets behind the wheel of a car fucked up on anything. He has already done it before. No one can deny this. I don't know if he did it again yet, but if he did i hope he gets punished accordingly. Not because he's Jon Jones, but because he is a human being showing blatant disregard for the safety of other human beings.

Why does FRB have to have ethical responsibilities?
He doesn't---no one does. But he seems to want respect, or at least to never be hassled about the information he puts out there. And you get respect in the information game the same way you get it everywhere else in life, by having ethics.
