Aldo or fire him.
I'm tired of hearing his name.
He was gassed and underwhelming vs. Mendes, threw one punch vs. Aldo, talked mad shit vs. Diaz who on short notice embarrassed him, then spent $300,000.00 to learn how to beat Diaz by decision.
Why talk about a UFC hype train even MORE.
There's like 20 guys that can wreck him, yet he struts around like a mini-McMahon peacock.

Yep everybody is sick of him... well, besides the 1.6 million people who paid to watch him fight Diaz... and the 1.4 who paid for it the first time... and the 1.4 who paid to watch him sleep Aldo.. and the 900k who watched him headline 189, one of the greatest cards of all time, without a belt or even a champion opponent.. should I keep going? He's entitled to give an opinion......he's right.
The UFC and Conor nut swinging is unreasonable and exaggerated.Lol your hatred is either exaggerated or unreasonable. Pick one.

The intent of the eyes is of no concern to the promoter (Conor). The eyes are all he wants, which is why he has a persona that is so polarizing. From the judge of your reaction to him, it sounds like you've marked out pretty hard... which is okay. I have too, I am just on the other side of it. I love the theater, I love that he is taking the sport to a new level, and I think his fights are exciting. I don't always agree with his tactics and sometimes it is a bit much for me even, but that's the point. He pushes buttons and he makes his fights matter to everyone, even those such as yourself who strongly dislike what he does. And what % of those ppv's would you say were bought to watch Diaz beat Conor?
Dude, there are some of us that like real ninja's without bullhorns, that's all.
The guy has a lot of fans, and he has earned those by being unique. I don't understand this idea of "nut swinging". As soon as a guy gets a huge amount of exposure all these pseudo-purists come out of the woodwork to criticize anybody who buys in. It's the prototypical hipster hive mentality- the same mentality that has people romanticize the Pride days while hating the CM Punk situation, which was straight out of the Pride playbook. It's okay to not like the guy, but don't try to de-legitimize other people who like it by using your buzzwords. I personally enjoy him, though I do not think he is infallible, and I understand why people have beef about it, but I am sure you would refer to me as a "nuthugger" based solely on my having a positive opinion regarding him and what he's done. The UFC and Conor nut swinging is unreasonable and exaggerated.

So you are saying that to be a proper MMA forum, we will need to limit the discussions regarding the biggest MMA star on the planet. Do you see that you are trying to fit this into your sensibilities, and not those of MMA fans as a whole? That's like saying that a swimming forum needs to stop talking about Michael Phelps. Not saying that Conor is the Michael Phelps in terms of talent and ability, but fame-wise.I'm not gonna bicker with you, I am going to attempt to mold a proper mma forum in the right direction.
In needed to be said, I said it.

He knocked the #1 contender out in 13 seconds less than a year ago.He needs to defend his belt if he wants to call himself a champion. Champs should fight the number 1 contenders.
I do wish he would defend his belt. I would love to see the Aldo fight again. I would not say that he isn't a champion, though. He did KO the GOAT FW in 13 seconds. I'd call him a champion, but one that defends his belt is definitely more established. He needs to defend his belt if he wants to call himself a champion. Champs should fight the number 1 contenders.

Easy does it Voltron. I'm not saying he isn't champ. I'm saying he took two fights outside the weightclass he's champ in, and now it's time to defend it.I do wish he would defend his belt. Haha, kudos for the Voltron reference.. but you did say that he can't call himself a champion if he doesn't defend. I thought you were pretty clear.Easy does it Voltron. I totally see your point, and in a Utopian society we would have booking based on merit alone, but there is zero chance that the UFC is as big as it currently is with only merit-based booking. The best fighters in the world have intrigue, and they do bring fans, but the ceiling is very low unless you start selling fun fights and personas. I think the UFC is doing a decent job of juggling merit and fame, because if they do merit-based booking solely you will lose a ton of fans. Your idea of an ideal direction would be something that I could probably get on board with, but I definitely will not be able to get 10 friends to come over and watch the whole card like I do when Conor fights. The ceiling of this sport is raised substantially when you factor in compelling stories and personalities, and that's just the way things are. The UFC can't change that, so they have to adjust their strategy to fit the priorities of the fans. I don't think they can train casuals into watching like hardcores. It's all good. Bottom line is there are thousands of fighters, Ronda Rousey and Conor's arrogance are being exploited by a promotion.
It's bad, not good for the sport.
There's no sport about it.
People feel like they gotta do what they gotta do to promote themselves, and it's sad but true.
From an idealistic point of view, I think the rich cocksuckers that manipulated the UFC into that direction shouldn't be rewarded by celebrating arrogance, or doing there promotional job for them so they can have extra snow in the driveway.
When these fighters crash, many times they crash hard after riding unrealistic highs.
I said what I said because ultimately fans direct promotions, and they need to be discouraged from profiteering in that manner.
To the point, other deserving fighters shouldn't be screwed out of their hard earned title shots because there's a golden goose strutting around.
Conor should have to face Aldo yesterday, or vacate.
Or, he should EARN his 155# shot by actually fighting in the division.
If he'd like to try 170, fine, RIP.
The fact is, he can't.
If he can, prove it and shut up.
The last thing mma needs is everyone following in his footsteps doing a promotor's job for them.
That Ben Rothwell laugh should echo forever, that is the road being built.
