So I just picked up an aquarium at a garage sale, $20 for all in the picture.

I went out today and got what I'm believing is everything else required. This is my first one eva so people like @RyannVonDoom please give me some tips or ideas as to how to make this marine adventure mind blowing, I'm really hoping to recreate Atlantis here. It looks like this now...

So am I missing anything? What are all the cool kids doing with theirs? Its a 25gal tank with a heater, filter, awesome bridge and Japanese architecture. I'm told to keep the temp at 24C (76F?) for tropicals, I put some water conditioner in and an hour later some cycle. The guy say as long as temp is good I can introduce some small feeders just to get some eco-system going then about a month later I can start picking out my stable. This all normal?

@RyannVonDoom - how much could I get my youngest into a small starter saltwater tank for? I may be interested in doing something like this for her.

Saltwater I've never done.. apprehensive to say the least..

Honestly.. I'd dump ALL of that shit out of that 10 gallon.. go to petco, get the ecocomplete 20lb bag and dump that right in. Get some plants, and a piece of driftwood/cholawood to put in there also

Its by the window and a lot of algea that came from my local store. Its not bad.. That algea is a pain but overall pretty easy tank. My 55gallon is so much awesome. this weekend got a 46 gallon bowfront that is fucking pristine for 50$.

Also, you guys missed the 1$ per gallon sale at petco. Ended saturday.

This is an older pic of my 55 gallon. On the left there's more java fern now. A lot of shrimpies running around. In a couple days will get another pic. The water is currently green with medication and dont feel like taking a pic of that.

Yeah. Pretty small. 11 cherry babies so far. All around that tiny size.

Cool. The 10gal is small.. Almost too small. I got the stand and a shitty 10gal for 10$. The iron in the stand is worth more than that. Check thrift stores for the stands.

Will do. May try to start her off with a 30 gallon. What do you think?
