Anyone know if fighters are allowed to do outside things for sponsorship money? Wearing sponsor's shirts to weigh ins, press, etc maybe?
no sponsors on fight week, or on ufc cameras. this means even the gyms can't have sponsors up while the ufc is there.

I get the feeling the champion would get about as much ($40K) as a mid-tier fighter who works hard at getting good sponsorships would get now. But compare that $40K to what people like Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre and Jon Jones would be getting from their sponsors during championship fights and it's not even close. I can't see why any fighter would prefer or ask for this Reebok deal but somehow the only reason the company did it is '100% for the fighters.'

If this was doubled I think it'd be fair.

Imagine you are Edgar and you're headlining the card in a few weeks. He's getting 15k in sponsors according to this picture. A big Phillippine sponsor could easily match that. I'm sure a company would have no problem being an exclusive sponsor for a main event for only $15k in an event that will surely have millions of eyes.

It's another monopoly put in place by the UFC.
and still be paying the 150k sponsor tax to the org in order to pay the fighter 20k to stamp your ad on his ass

UFC officially announces Reebok sponsorship numbers | MMAjunkie

that they must wear to their fights, press conferences, weigh-ins and open workouts. Additionally, in-cage sponsor banners are forbidden.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive, in perpetuity royalty, payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness.

The UFC considers the uniform a positive for fighters hit hard by a declining sponsorship market. Executives also say a branded apparel policy mirrors other major sports leagues. Several UFC fighters already have struck exclusive deals with Reebok, including light heavyweight champ Jon Jones, women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey, ex-welterweight champ Johny Hendricks, featherweight contender Conor McGregor, and rising strawweight star Paige VanZant.

“All of the revenue we’re receiving from Reebok is being distributed to the fighters,” Fertitta told MMAjunkie during the media call. “The only revenue not included will be used to cover direct operating costs for this program.”

The UFC could always share a bigger percentage of their profits to help offset the loss of sponsorship money brought about by the Reebok deal, or maybe when Dana was talking about fighters being in the gym too much, he meant that time would be better spent working a second job?

I'm shocked Brock was able to turned down the $5,000 sponsorship money.
