What a well thought out response! :) I now want Dc to grind Johnson down and punish him within a round.
Lol I would not mind if DC won. I like when american wrestlers win. I think he's an amazingly gifted athlete, but I really dont believe his mental game is strong. I think Jon Jones exposed how rattled you can get him. Sure he has had great success in wrestling and mma, but I think he often fails to rise to the occasion. Year 2000, his junior year of college in the ncaa tournament he was one win away from being an all-american and lost. 2001 in the ncaa finals and lost. 2004 in the Olympic medal match and lost. 2008 couldn't control his weight and couldn't compete in the Olympics. He still to this day has issues controlling his weight. Theres a video on youtube somewhere of him getting pissed off at a guy during a wrestling match and he throws a punch or elbow at the guy. Couldn't maintain his composure. I dont know. I am just not sold on DC in this fight, but I think it would be cool if he won.

Brother, you know I look at you as a good friend (well, I'll tell people you are my friend and you might think "the fu-k, is he kidding, I don't even like the guy")and educated poster......that is a solid group of facts and I consider this informative, to say the least. I'm going to rewatch that fight (without drinking and without making sides) and I'll see whether I agree here based on that fight.

UFC 187: Judges and referees selected for Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort … – MMA Fighting | MMA Ape!
Veteran referee "Big" John McCarthy landed duties for the pay-per-view's main event, which features a light heavyweight title fight between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson. Las Vegas regulars Adelaide Byrd, Derek Cleary, and Chris Lee were unanimously approved to judge the contest.
Oh no.

I'd love DC to win, though Priziesthorse has articulated perfectly all the reasons I worry he won't (and added to them, auuuugh). Purely for rampant insanity reasons, I want Vitor to become the new champ just to hear all the speeches about how the Bible predicted his ascendancy to middleweight Christ. I mean lots of fighters thank God (Weidman included) but only Vitor has that special blood-tide Revelations quality that I like in a champ.

Plus, Weidman...I dunno, I respect his skill and I'd be crazy not to, and his fight with Machida was beautiful, but he just doesn't last in my mind. I don't know why. I think it's the B-movie cop wholesomeness or something.

I realise that I make my picks based on very flawed reasoning.

Hey, whatever it takes to keep Vitor kicking skulls off spinal cords like some terrifying hybrid of Mortal Kombat and the Mayan Empire. Then Weidman can show up for the rematch all Beyond Thunderdome and...

...seriously I don't know why Dana hasn't called us yet to script this stuff.

I'm more curious about Arlovski/Browne than I should be, probably.
