Fights that seemed even, but weren't

I was reading one of Jack Slack's articles today and it made me think about fights that seemed like they might be pretty even on paper, but turned out to be a total sonning in the end.

I don't mean fights where one person got a fast KO or sub, but fights where it seemed like a pick em before the fight then when it happened you had a clear idea who was the student and who was the master. Usually fights that go the distance or close to it and are dominated bell to bell.

Rory vs Carlos. This fight was a HUGE step up in competition for Rory. I was rooting for but thought he'd be in for a long night. Rory went onto win the first two rounds convincingly then lost a tko in the third with 7 seconds remaining. This match earned them FOTN and rightfully so.

K-1 MAX Japan tournament champion Yuichiro "Jienotsu" Nagashima will get his way as the first round of his Dynamite!! bout with DREAM lightweight champion Shinya Aoki will be fought under stand-up rules.

The mixed rules bout will consist of one three-minute kickboxing round followed by one five-minute round fought under mixed martial arts rules. After those eight minutes if a winner has not been decided then the bout shall be ruled an automatic draw.

A notable bonus for the awkwardly unorthodox but highly powerful Nagashima is that the kickboxing round will be fought using the DREAM open finger gloves. The term "K-1 rules" has been specifically avoided for this reason although the rest of the K-1 rules including the three knockdown system will come into play.

Nagashima played it smart. He knew after the first round Aoki would go for a shot, especially since ol' boy was making his intentions perfectly clear with all that stalling. Soon as the head dipped, BOOM!

Not sure the odds coming into this one but GSP vs Karo.

I've rewatched many times and judging by the commentary Joe and Golie seemed sure Karo was on that other level. GSP put on a killer performance that night.

Conan silviera vs Severn..Severn treated him BAD..,IMHO Dans top 3 best performances..Dan faced some danger then subbed him..Back then KERR AND ERICKSON turned down fights with Conan...Ol school Animal Gary Myers didn't shy away..Im proud to say I was raised in the GARY MYERS TEAM WOLF-PACK..Gary also fought ISMAIL for 30mins in Russia I do believe..Hes on the UG...he would love this place
