I was reading one of Jack Slack's articles today and it made me think about fights that seemed like they might be pretty even on paper, but turned out to be a total sonning in the end.
I don't mean fights where one person got a fast KO or sub, but fights where it seemed like a pick em before the fight then when it happened you had a clear idea who was the student and who was the master. Usually fights that go the distance or close to it and are dominated bell to bell.
Best examples I can think of:
Nate Diaz vs Cowboy Cerrone
Frankie Edgar vs. Cub Swanson
Cowboy vs. Myles Jury
Mach Sakurai vs. Shinya Aoki 1
Nogueira vs. Herring 1
Demian Maia vs. Jon Fitch
Mike Pyle vs. Rick Story
Aoki vs JZ Calvancante 2
Tim Sylvia vs. Andrei Arlovski 3
Royce Gracie vs Hidehiko Yoshida 2
Others?
