I can appreciate that sentiment. Seriously. And at the end of the day I hope you guys really know how much I appreciate your input.
But it's vastly easier for us to hold people accountable when it's on a level playing field.
One thing that seems to work well is our users being really nice to newcomers and even people that are kind of being jerks for a moment. It self selects. People that just want to be jerks will keep being jerks and then I pink and ban them. People that want to join the group typically respond to that respect and lose the edge.
It's all made pretty tough when the person is breaking the rules but others are as well. It ties our hands some and I assure you that the best thing you can do to someone you don't want to be here is give them the rope to hang themselves.

I had taken Johns post at face value and assumed that you had gone to his site and asked him to come back.
The fact that you would go seek him out to try to get him to return when we have lost so many great posters (who admittedly may not have gotten the clicks he did) who were (are) damn good people angered the fuck out of me. To be fair I'm currently a little testy. I'm doing a month long stint on midnights and to say I'm not adjusting well to the shift change would be a wild understatement.
Look at this place like a house party. There are a few people who live at the house that enforce some rules when needed but people are generally awesome and come and go as they like. The more awesome people here the better crowd they attract.
Then some creepy guy shows up thats been kicked out of every other party and starts causing weird shit. Everyone knows he's not mentally there but some choose to goad him on while others are pretty sure he's got a skin suit in his basement.
Everyone likes this party and wants to keep coming back but he's making the group as a whole look bad and potentially scaring new people away with his 'it puts the lotion on it's skin' vibe. When he is finally asked to leave the party starts to return to normal.
So yeah, you are right there is something deeper. I like this place, quite a lot actually. And I don't like it when people shit all over it (be it in many threads or just one). There are arguments here all the time and posters disagree but don't tell each other to fuck off, fuck off, fuck off!!! at the end of every post. Mentally unstable people belong on the UG (where john was also banned) not here.
If I'm holding this place to too high a standard so be it but I like hanging out with you faggots and don't want some Buffalo Bill motherfucker ruining it.
