UFC considering Romero-Whittaker for interim belt

This would make me happier to let Bisping have his GSP fight in the fall, but it would be totally weird for him to not have to unify the belts first. Maybe GSP would take the interim bout first, but doubt he would since he wouldn't have much chance of winning.
I think that interm belts should be stopped. If it's a number one contender match then have it written into the contract that the winner gets the next shot. No more begging Dana like a dog in the ring and if the UFC goes back on their word there will be legal ramifications.

I agree. The interim belt is a nice way of letting someone else make some dough in the current system, but the whole pay system needs overhauling anyway.
In that sense I definitely respect Bellator. When they said winner of Henderson-Pitbull got next, they stuck to it, even though Bendo's win was so anticlimactic and awkward. And they ended up with one of the best fights of the year in mma because of that, so good on them.

That's how they've been treated, but we both know there's a distinction between how they're treated and what they should actually mean.
Given the way that things work right now i don't mind the interim titles. They're ridiculous but since guys make more money with them I'm cool with it.
Honestly, I don't think they've been treated badly. I think the reaction has been silly for the most part.
i agree with you Interim belts aka number 1 contender belts have lost their steam. If the champ cant go by a certain date they need to be striped of the title, if they are that good, when they return shouldnt be hard to regain the belt.

If the "champ" (and I use that term very loosely) is injured and dana thinks the 2 most deserving title shots are Yoel and gsp, then have those two fight for the interim. Why confuse things with adding an extra fighter in the mix?
The answer to that is obvious, dana doesn't want a brown foreign, gay Jesus lover who can't even speaka d'english as their champ and will do whatever he can to not let that happen.
