That thread was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the news. If you think about it, though, this doesn't validate what you said.

You proposed an idea that would make Bisping not look like he's ducking, while still indeed ducking. This does not accomplish that. He never agreed to the fight, or even publicly said he was down for it after Dana announced. This has in effect only served to make it look even more like Bisping is ducking him. While your tin foil hat idea ended up being more prophetic than it seemed, the situations surrounding this do kind of serve to disprove your theory as a whole.
Close enough is good enough, fren.

The main result will be: Bisping stills fights GSP and an interim title is created under the pretense of an injury.

I don't get why people think bisping is ducking.

fighters get injured you can't fight with a knee injury they are pretty painful.

Either he was injured when he told GSP that he would fight Romero if GSP doesn't sign the contract for July, or he conveniently remembered his injury as soon as the UFC said he'd be fighting Romero and he wouldn't be allowed to fight GSP. I don't doubt that his injury exists, but the most likely scenario here is that Bisping wants that big fight and he'll say anything he can to make it. I don't know if it's a duck per se, but he's definitely been playing some games here.

Last week Mike wanted to fight GSP as early as possible and gave the ultimatum that if he wasn't ready Yoel is next. GSP isn't ready and now Mike's too injured to fight Yoel.

I'm sure all those good looks from people will pay his bills.
You're right about that, and if that's what he's going for he's likely succeeding. I'm not gonna tell Mike to care about his legacy more than his paycheck. Doesn't take away from the fact that it's a bad look.

As long as there is a unification bout down the line it won't hurt his legacy as that fight will cement it, one way or the other.

I'm pretty confident he retires after fighting GSP, and GSP doesn't stay at middleweight to fight whoever wins that interim title.

Lol you think GSP beats Bisping. That's cute.
I never said that. I really don't know who's gonna win that fight. I think Mike retires either way, and if GSP wins he doesn't stick around to fight the contender. I could have worded my response better.

Another one of the many reasons why Bisping is the worst MW Champ of recent times.

It's like Steve Jennum winning UFC 3 after one fight as a last minute replacement. Then holding out and demanding to either fight Kevin Rosier or Minoki Ichihara before the next real championship tournament can take place.
This is literally the best and most hilarious MMA comparison I've ever read.
