I agree that should be allowed but I don't recall her making that point. When did she say that?
She didn't directly say it, what she did was defense her right, as she perceives it, to hold a black only memorial day celebration which amounts to the same thing, no?

No, I don't think it is. Black people wanting to gather together is fine. If it's a public place, they cannot prevent other people based on their race. If they use force to do so, that is assault.

Yes and rightly so, they should be charged in those circumstances but that still doesn't they should be prevented from trying to form that assembly.

Form that assembly of black people while blocking the saltines from joining them?

If you mean they can invite black people and ask white people not to go, I agree.

We both do hence why things like racism aren't as big of an issue in our countries as in America. Government regulation for the most part reflects the mandate of the people. No one is crying here about child porn censorship or not being able to exclude people due to their skin colour
Do you have any statistics to support your assertion that things are always sunny in Australia? I wouldn't pretend racism isn't reasonably common place in Canada. Come to think of it, haven't you shared stories here of being picked on as a kid for being different?

The number of complete nutjobs in teaching positions is astounding!

The Eric Clanton guy who smashed that guy with a bike lock and ran was a professor as well I think. And these people are in charge of shaping young, impressionable minds! Wow!

LOL the mere absence of mention of "the black, white, Mexican vote" (okay in our case the white, Asian and black vote) during our elections says enough for this conversation to come to an end

No the saltines, whatever that is aside from a metaphor for white people, can form as well. "I may not agree with what you have to say but I will defend to the death your right to say it" one of them Yanks said that a while back and he's still right.

I like that saying too but what has got to do with not allowing white people to attend a black party?

Ye that's what I mean, then police can keep the peace, without interfering in public discourse which is neither their role nor the role of legislature in my view.

No.
I think your interpretation of what she said is exactly that, an interpretation. She made accusations towards white people as a group and based on those accusations, appealed to that as some kind of "eye for an eye" kind of fairness.
I agree with you that people should be allowed to do what she was defending but then call it for what it is: racism. Just go on and admit it then that you think it's okay for people to be racist and be done with it.

What makes you think I'm arguing?

Vutu said that they could get into trouble with the law. I said...

I was curious as to whether your/his law was like ours. Being that they look good on paper but are useless except in civil court.
I wasn't sure one way or the other. I figured the best thing to do was try to make what I was saying more clear.

See your civil court laws are a thing that bewilder and confuse me. It seems like people can sue for hurt feelings and make it a financial venture.

You must have missed the part where I said, "if some dude wants to dress up in his grandpappys ghost costume and parade around, he should be allowed, otherwise you push it underground where it is more dangerous" and there is no chance for the wider public to address them directly in the form of counter demonstrations.

It doesn't change anything.
I still agree with you on what people's right to gather should be.

Where I disagree with you is on what she was saying. The logic she put forward to justify her position was childish and accusatory and really just a bunch of other bullshit. That said, it shouldn't matter what one's logic is for wanting only these people or those people to attend a function. So I agree with you in the end. Regarding how one can limit who attends, Leigh already made an excellent point about that.

Are you serious? You don't have an idea of how someone will vote based on their ethnic background?

Yes she's a moron which is the main reason for me backing up her right to speak. normally I am be biased toward black peoples plight in the US, because lets face it they get fucked over but watching her made me think "fuck this fool, she's part of the problem" and as such I would not like the opportunity to see such bullshit be taken away from anyone else.

Not really.

That response also answers neither of my questions.
It does but ill try another angle

While race IS an issue in Australia and Im sure Canada (to a lesser degree) its nowhere near the issue it is in the US. Ive known fuck loads of people who have lived in Australia and the US close family included and they all agree with this. The overwhelming consensus is that people feel much safer here than in the US too which is hard to believe given all the gun toting Murricans ready to save the day over there

Except that you constantly tell us how intolerant your family is. Maybe they aren't the best metric. You realize you're the most racist poster on this site, right?

Actually, that was what a English author said a while back summing up the values of a French philosopher.
And she's still right ;)

Why don't the trolls just drop tips to the cops that they've heard gunshots from these coroboree's?
