Former Glory kickboxing champion Gokhan Saki made his successful Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut this past weekend (Fri., Sept. 22, 2017) at UFC Fight Night 117, knocking out Henrique da Silva in the very first round with a vicious left hook in Saitama, Japan.

It’s that type of striking that has fight fans excited for “The Turkish Tyson’s” future inside the Octagon, as the former kickboxing champion has vowed to deliver one knockout after another.

I don't think that will happen.

da Silva was teeing off on Saki before the Hail Marry...

I think if Gokhan had entered the MMA landscape around 2004-2006 he would have had a legit shot, but age is not on his side and he still has a lot to work on ....unfortunate once he starts fighting the Top 10 guys he's gonna get handled IMO.

Best of luck to him though, I love watching him fight.

i gotta agree...his moment of weakness was there...but he also showed what 95% of mma guys don't have...the ability to nut up and leave it all in every strike

his chances are very slim...but he is capable of 3-4 KOs in row if he can improve cardio a little bit...he KOs many guys the initial combos alone...I need to see low kicks early ...his low kicks are nasty

This. Much like CM Punk, Gohkan simply got into the game too late. I love his spirit and fighting style, but he's up against it when he starts fighting guys in the Top 10-15 of the division.

Saki will continue in mma until he is matched up with a wrestler with some jits or ground and pound skills.

If Saki can develop good enough TDD and Cardio, he can go far.

Big thing for Saki is he's used to going 9 minutes, just Kickboxing, not 15, 5 minutes at a time, striking and grappling. Cardio is his biggest weakness right now in his career as an MMA fighter. People need to understand that he's still got years left to get a handle on the transition, if someone like Daniel Cormier who didn't start fighting professionally at all until he was 30, can get too the top, Saki can too.

Don't know if he'll be champ, but he'll be a top 10 fighter at the very least.

LHW is at a low period too, he's the kind of guy we need to see, to spice things up a bit.

Having watched a decent amount of his Kickboxing career, both in K-1 and Glory, I'm pretty excited to see him fighting in the UFC. The guy has power in his hands like no one else at LHW, and he's used to taking out HW guys that are as big as UFC HW's(Ghita for example)

He has some work to do.
Get Big Ben to welcome him into mma reality.

If he wants to kick my ass because of this post, I can say that I would be scared to fight him so tell him there is no point in coming after me as I would just wilt and start dialling 911

Yup on both.
Slipped the right and a cracking counter.
The short elbows before tickled him a fair bit.
It was the feroscity with which he threw it. If that missed he was gonna turn all the way around with the power.
