Tracking. Again, I'm not in the market these days but 3 years ago all of this was available with ease on ar15.com and could be purchased and pieced together in a way to be done in minutes or hours. Modified lowers, old colt auto lowers, drop in sears, lightning links you just pop out of aluminium templates, etc.

I'd be shocked if its that much harder to come by because my google found the kit instead of the lowers.

you have to have a pre-86 AR, and then you can do some machining to accept the select-fire trigger group.
Pre-86 ARs are only slightly less expensive than an actual M16.

I have a friend in Oregon who 'makes' automatic weapons by modifying legal semi-autos (he has a Class III), but even he doesn't do AR select-fire mods. Just AKs, HKs, and other rifles.

Compare with how much luggage he traveled with in the past, etc. Trace the purchases, even if he wasn't required to register. Idk, I would not assume anything about this case until all the due diligence is completed, we hear from the gf, etc. Too many circumstances are too convenient.

Anyway, if they were his, seems more like he was getting ready to start a business selling weapons.

Too many unanswered questions that should be addressed by investigators.

Isis has doubled down on its claim of responsibility for the Las Vegas shooting, bestowing a jihadi name on the gunman amid widespread scepticism.

Investigators say they have not yet found any evidence of a link between the terrorist group and Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old retired accountant known for gambling.

In a new official claim of responsibility, Isis claimed Paddock was responding to its leader’s call for intensified attacks against Western countries bombing its territories in Syria and Iraq.

“Responding to the call of [Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi] to target the states of the Crusader alliance, and after careful observation of gatherings of the Crusaders in the US city of Las Vegas, one of the soldiers of the caliphate (Abu Abd al-Bar al-Amriki, may Allah accept him) lay hidden armed with machine guns and various ammunition in a hotel overlooking a concert,” it said.

“He opened fire on their gathering, leaving 600 killed and injured, until his ammunition was finished and he departed as a martyr.”

Abu Abd al-Bar al-Amriki is an Arabic “kunya”, which Isis bestows on terrorists after particularly deadly or high-profile attacks as a mark of honour.

He checked in on Thursday and over the next few days brought 1-2 bags up at different times. I believe they said he had ten bags with him in the hotel room well hidden (closets etc).

We’re all waiting on security footage for more details.

My guess is he bought them this way. That contradicts the storyline that the guns he had were all legal in NV but as many people know, if someone drops 100k in front of someone I’m sure they would happily convert any gun if they knew how. Steve was that guy. He was the type to drop money to get what he wanted.

Rural Nevada strikes me as the type of place that has some ar15.com gun hoarders that would be willing to sell off some converted autos. Open desert shooting is about the only place you'll find sympathetic gun guys for your illegal auto dreams.

and they use their firearms. target shooting, trap, skeet, hunting, CAS, 3 Gun, etc.

some people use their delivery trucks to deliver things. Other people use delivery trucks to kill 86 people walking in a parade.

I’m trying to not take a stand about the gun rights issue but the money merely made it so he didn’t have to modify the guns himself. From the sounds of it, anyone willing to modify their guns can maybe make the same mods rather easily?

If you have access to milling equipment and a knowledge to use it, yes. For the vast majority of people, no. The guns may or may not have been modified at all. Money does incredible things. Sadly, so does mental illness.

It really is and not only that, they are used as protection from animals as well
I've said on here before, 1st I ever shot a gun was in my uncle in laws front yard in Arizona

He just had different targets setup all over and shoots at them for fun

I know but I think the rise of gun sports has driven the sales, lobbying etc up substantially from the days of owning a more traditional hunting rifle or handgun for protection. I feel we’re living in a different era in regards to this sort of thing.

A vast majority of firearms murders are committed with handguns. It's not even close. I can't remember off the top of my head, but it's something like being killed by a long gun is about as likely as being hit by lightning.
