so how many straw purchases has the Canadian database of universal background checks identified?that's a hell of an over statement. ATF walked guns make up a pathetically small amount of firearms in mexico.
For the uninitiated @Filthy is referencing the ATF allowing guns to transit mexico in attempted sting operations. Some of these have gone all the way to cartels who then killed mexican police and others with them. The US has provided mexican army guns and they have deserted bringing their weapons along with them to their new cartel positions. This is all a small drop of the total guns in mexico. Not "a lot".
Mexican guns are largely American straw purchases, some stolen guns, and increasingly cheap chinese crap.
The 70%+ of mexicos illegal guns are from the US. Tracing those back to the straw purchase is almost impossible due to lack of universal background checking or any other type of database helping law enforcement.
Buy a gun, send it to Mexico. Without a sting operation selling that gun and targeting the suspect it is nearly impossible to prove.
Police can find that gun in Mexico and there's no tracking back to anything but manufacturer and gun dealer.
"Oh I sold that gun at a gun show" is all you have to say to cover a straw purchase.
that's not how due process and natural rights work in a limited government.
Grass and cocaine is a little easier to conceal and distribute, no?we can't stop grass and cocaine from finding criminal distribution, but we'll have success with firearms. OK.

Stay in Canada
a machinist can turn any chunk of metal in to a firearm. How may steps are involved in creating cocaine?Grass and cocaine is a little easier to conceal and distribute, no?
What would it do to the cost of an illegal gun if they were harder to obtain?
Sounds better than every angry incel."when guns are outlawed, only machinists will have guns"
Really? You think every deadbeat 18 year old incel or wanna be gangbanger has an unlimited budget?@Freeloading Rusty - you'll never price firearms out of the budget of criminals.
Handgun prohibition in the UK has been so successful that criminal networks are reduced to renting them rather than owning them. Drugs on the other hand are rampant, though.so how many straw purchases has the Canadian database of universal background checks identified?
(none)
and that's a hell of an overstatement about how easy it is to hide straw purchases, LoL. You make it sound like the ATF never gets a straw purchase conviction without a confession or a sting operation.
And I point out the involvement of the ATF because it highlights the perverse unintended consequences of prohibition laws.

This is how you say, um, "retarded".so how many straw purchases has the Canadian database of universal background checks identified?
You forgot about the stabbing.Handgun prohibition in the UK has been so successful that criminal networks are reduced to renting them rather than owning them. Drugs on the other hand are rampant, though.
is it more cost-effective to try and raise the black market price of firearms, or to address 14 yo mental health before they turn in to incels with jobs?Really? You think every deadbeat 18 year old incel or wanna be gangbanger has an unlimited budget?
every incel who wants a gun can get one, and we're averaging 7 deaths a year from mass shootings at schools.Sounds better than every angry incel.
