Medal Events of Day Five

For day 5, there are only 6 medal events:

---

> #*Alpine Skiing - [Ladies' Slalom](https://www.pyeongchang2018.com/en/...kiing/results-ladies-slalom-fnl-000200-.htm)*

#### **Time** : 10:15 KST / 1:15 GMT / 20:15 EST

#### **Approximate Length** : 5 hours

#### **Notes** :

* Each of the 83 competitors will have to do 2 runs.
* The cumulative time from both runs will be used to determine the winner.
* The first run will last for around 1 hour 30 minutes.
* The second run will last for around the same amount of time starting at 13:45 KST (4:45 GMT / 23:45 EST)
* Slalom is considered to be the most technical and the slowest (at only 40km/h) of all the events in alpine skiing as it has the most turns.

#### **Probable Winner** : **USA**'s Mikaela Shiffrin, **Switzerland**'s Wendy Holdener, **Sweden**'s Frida Hansdotter and **Slovakia**'s Petra Vlhova

---

> #*Snowboard - [Men's Halfpipe](https://www.pyeongchang2018.com/en/...oard/results-men-s-halfpipe-fnl-000300-.htm)*

#### **Time** : 10:30 KST / 1:30 GMT / 20:30 EST

#### **Approximate Length** : 1 hour 30 minutes

#### **Notes** :

* There were two qualification runs prior to reduce the number of contestants from 29 to 12
* Each person is allowed three runs.
* Each run is given a score out of 100 by 6 judges. The highest score and the lowest score are removed and the middle four scores are averaged to give the final score.
* The score is based mostly on the difficulty of the tricks executed and how well it was executed.

#### **Probable Winner** : **USA**'s Shaun White, **Australia**'s Scotty James and **Japan**'s Ayumu Hirano

---

> #*Nordic Combined - [Men's Individual Normal Hill/10km](https://www.pyeongchang2018.com/en/...ndividual-gundersen-nh-10km-fnl-0001cc-.htm)*

#### **Time** : 15:00 KST / 6:00 GMT / 1:00 EST

#### **Approximate Length** : 3 hours 15 minutes

#### **Notes** :

* Nordic combined is composed of two sports : ski jumping and cross-country skiing.
* There is one run of ski jumping. Each compeitor is given a score according to ski jumping rules (based on distance, style and weather conditions at the time of the jump).
* The point can then be converted into a penalty time for the cross-country skiing part. For each point behind the leader of the ski jumping part, the competitor will start the cross-country part 4 seconds behind.
* The cross-country part is thus a pursuit race, since starts are staggered but the first one to arrive to the finish is the winner.

#### **Probable Winner** : **Japan**'s Akito Watabe, **Germany**'s Eric Frenzel and Johannes Rydzek and **Norway**'s Jarl Magnus Riiber

---

> #*Speed Skating - [Ladies' 1000m](https://www.pyeongchang2018.com/en/...skating/result-ladies-1000m-fnl-000100-.htm)*

#### **Time** : 19:00 KST / 10:00 GMT / 5:00 EST

#### **Approximate Length** : 1 hour

#### **Notes** :

* There are 32 competitors in 16 semi-randomly drawn pairs. The highest seeded competitors will mostly be towards the end.
* Each skater will skate for 2.5 laps in their own lane.
* It is a competition against the clock.

#### **World Record** : 1:12.09

#### **Probable Winners** : **Japan**'s Nao Kodaira, **USA**'s Heather Bergsma and **Netherlands**' Jorien Ter Mors

---

> #*Biathlon - [Women's 15km](https://www.pyeongchang2018.com/en/...lts-women-s-15km-individual-fnl-000100-.htm)*

#### **Time** : 20:05 KST / 11:05 GMT / 6:05 EST

#### **Approximate Length** : 1 hour 15 minutes

#### **Notes** :

* This event consists of 5 laps of 3km.
* In between each lap, there's a shooting round with 5 targets.
* Competitors must first shoot prone (lying), then standing, then prone again and then lying again.
* For each miss, a minute is added to the competitor's time.
* The competitors start staggered by 30 seconds.
* It is a race against the clock. The winner is the competitor with the best time.

#### **Probable Winner** : **Germany**'s Laura Dahlmeier, **Belarus**' Darya Domracheva and **Slovakia**'s Anastasiya Kuzmina

---

> #*Luge - [Doubles Run](https://www.pyeongchang2018.com/en/...2018/en/luge/result-doubles-fnl-000200-.htm)*

Australia Scotty James with a 92 on his 1st run
Shaun white up now
Still 2 runs each to go
The Australian gloves look like boxing gloves lol

@Miesha's Taint seriously
How are Australians this good at snowboarding

Oh huge run from Shaun
This should take over James, I'd say 95

And they give him a 94.25
Going to be a battle between these two tonight
Don't think the Japanese guy can catch these two
