full disclosure: ive only done book 1 (which season 1 was adapted from)

WORLD: very little world building since its our world

CHARACTER: the books are short, so there arent many characters, and some of the books are 1st person-pov, which is an inferior style to rolling third-person limited imo

CONFLICT: again, due to the books being short, the plots are fairly linear

so, long story short, it was a fun little read. but a light read. and there's a time a place for light reads. no doubt. but with that said ... team THE STORMLIGHT ARCHIVE right here!!
Great post, worth the effort.

Yes, this kind of action stuff does best as a tight, linear story.

In fairness, it doesn't advertise itself as anything more complex than a badass with plot related reasons to go wrecking ball. Like in First Blood. Simple and effective.

exactly. same thing with harlan coben thrillers. they are very light lifts compared to what i normally read, but theres a time and place for light lift reading for sure

I suppose.
It's just that the guy is so big it's unrealistic. 99 percent of the time his size alone would defuse a situation.
I get that it's written that way, but a smaller actor who's bigger than Cruise would've been a better choice.

Guy is too big to be believably vulnerable, and only good acting could save it for me. He's not being nominated for anything too soon is my guess.

In one of the books it started off with him digging out swimming pools in Florida. He really packed on the muscle by doing this apparently. So much muscle that at the end of the book he got shot at point blank range with a
.22 bullet in the chest. But because he had dug some holes the bullet lodged in his chest muscle.

He woke up in hospital fine. I can't remember the rest as I wanked myself into a coma.

Amazing proze.

What I watched was fine, until they had to talk.

There were a couple of times I laughed out loud, not a good sign.

First episode of Moon Knight is up on Disney+.

8/10. Decent start to the series. Only six episodes so hopefully they keep this momentum.

Dopesick is dope.

Its the sickest programme since Chernobyl.

@Splinty is in it as well.

Merika is so fucked up.
Yes
Some close parallels with the Covid Vaccine Push
Don't trust those fuckers, their "science", or their marketing

The guy who played "Splinty" meant well

Peacemaker.

Its an honest stab. I'm a big fan of Gunn.

But this is too long. It would have made a good film. But 8 episodes was way too long.

7/10

I really hate Kelvin Gemstone.

Not just that character, but especially him.

Can't stand the actor in anything.

had to look up who that was

ive seen him in something (maybe that one where the funny girl sings the "cups" song...??). but i cant stand his (or Will Ferrel's) over-the-top type comedy. its stupid

real life type comedy in a drama like "succession" is where its at

edit: i just looked up "movie with the cups song" and see Adam Devine, and i was like "whoa, he looks just like the actor named kelvin gemstone"
