Nice! This is pretty cool and I got some questions. I'm currently doing a long RV trip and we are on the fence as if we should spend time in Mexico's California Baja. I'd like to know your thoughts on how safe it would be for myself, wife and two young kids to drive our truck and trailer across the border and spend 1-3 weeks there and drive back.

Here's our trip so far.

Friday 9/25/15:

Picked my friend up from the airport at 6:30PM and headed to the border. Shitty traffic. Stopped at the border to get tourist Visas (about $20.00 a person). Made it down to Ensenada around 9/930. Got dinner then headed to Hussongs, then another bar after. Stayed at Hotel Santo Tomas. Clean, normal Mexican motel. Great location. First room I've ever stayed in that had 3 beds lolz.

Band at Hussons (famous Ensenada bar where they claim to have invented the Margarita):

What bar did you go to in Ensenada? I know what goes on down there sir!

Our "hotel" was about 4 kilometers south of town on the other side of the river. Hotel Serenidad was supposedly the shit back in the 60's. There is a dirt airstrip and supposedly John Wayne used to go there a lot. Like most things in Mexico, it wasn't maintained that great, but it was spacious and a nice place to stay for a couple nights. The first night we were the only two people there which was a little weird.

We made it for the super moon, which was cool to be on the East side of Baja, so there was no obstructed view.

You traveling with Cabbage? Cool man, looking forward to his come back.

The next day we headed 15 minutes south, where the beautiful beaches are.

15-20 minutes south of Mulege:

Those beaches look awesome.

Personal safety is not a concern. There have been no real problems south of Rosarito in regards to serious violence. Baja is made for just posting up. A couple weekends ago I went camping in Punta Cana with 7 friends. It was a mile stretch of beach with cliffs on one end and dunes on the other. There were only 2 other people there the entire weekend.

Honestly, I don't know anything about the RV lifestyle and on some of the roads I was nervous enough just driving my 2003 Honda Accord. Your rig looks f'n huge! Then again, semi trucks are everywhere which is part of the concern with driving, but partially may make you feel better, because if they do it, so can you.

Most places have hook ups. The Hotel Serenidad that I just posted about had the hotel, then a giant lot with hookups and there were people posted up out there. In my next post, I'll show you the beaches 15 minutes south of Mulege. That would be an epic end destination for you. You can pull up right on the beach and there are facilities there.
Good info thank you. I'm leaning towards yes but some people seem to think we'd be nuts to do this so I'm torn. Looks like you're having an amazing trip man 🙂

Awesome thread....would love to do this sometime...I bet i could have fun if i took 3k couldn't I?
