In the interest of full disclosure, I haven't read The Killing Joke. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, as someone who hasn't read the graphic novel the first 30 minutes, although not great, also wasn't terrible.

My one real gripe with the movie would be its R-rating. They didn't really earn it. They could have used the R-rating to 1) Make the Joker look like more of a psychopath. 2) Expand on what was already there to add length instead of making up a 30 minute Batgirl story.

I think that's what they were trying to achieve with the Batgirl story. It was supposed to add weight to Barbara's part in the rest of it.

If you enjoyed the movie I would recommend the graphic novel if you're interested. It's my favourite Joker story. I've always loved the Batman/Joker dynamic and this story nails it. Love the ending!

I actually have the graphic novel, just never got around to reading it. I was going to recently, but figured I'd wait for the movie to come out as to not spoil it for me.

Was ok. I felt a bit let down as instead of really focusing on the dichotomy of one bad day forging both who Batman and the Joker are they turned it into a batgirl story. The beauty of the book is thay exploration of how they are both just opposite sides of the same coin, but they didn't really delve into that with this. Instead focusing on batgirl.

The Dark Knight Returns is still the best Batman story they've done film or animation.

I liked it especially when Batgirl jumped batman and fucked his brains out lol. The ending was no good at all though.

I liked it. Lol at Batman putting his hands on her ass. Also I'm starting to think he broke his number one rule at the end. Did he finally go bat shit crazy?

Flashpoint Paradox, Assault on Arkham & Gods & Monsters come highly recommended.

I'm not a huge Frank Miller fan so I was never really crazy about the original material.
Have you watched it? The Batman superman showdown and Batman joker at the amusement park scenes are so damn good.

Also btas fans you can't go wrong with mask of the phantasm

Yep I own both parts. I'm just not overly fond of the art style and Peter Weller's voice was a little much. I understand he's supposed to sound old but just not for me.

I like Mask of the Phantasm more than any of the live action movies.
I'd probably place that as my favourite Batman movie of all time.

Gotcha. I wasn't sure how I'd like weller as Batman either. Growing up loving Conroy but i felt he nailed the vision of Miller's Batman.

I agree about the animated Batman being better then any live action incarnation so far. While i like many of them none of the live action movies have fully captured the character of Batman. He's been to reactive to everything around him. Instead of the great strategist and detective.

Affleck has potential imo, he's the absolute best Bruce Wayne we've had so far and they seem be getting his detective master planner side down. Interested to see more of him.

I think Barbara was a little whiny at the beginning. I guess it was good for those who don't really know anything (and I'm not claiming to be an expert, whatsoever) and put gravity to the second part but I definitely agree with the other comments previously posted.

I thought the flashbacks were really well done and the scene in the mock up apartment was one of my favorites.

The art from the comic was terrible. I think they did a great job recreating it without it being total shit but can see why you wouldn't like it. Thought robocop was great though.

Red hood, Mask of the Phantasm and DKR are all fantastic.
