Eggs are $5 for 18 here, so we haven't stopped buying them, but those same 18 eggs were $2.50 when orange man bad was in office. Basically, everything has nearly doubled since Trump was in office, when you think about it.

Gas was $1.89. It's $3.39 today here.

Our homeowners & auto insurance has increased 50+%.

A McDouble was $1.49. It's $2.99 today.

A large drink at McDonalds was 99 cents. It's $1.99 today.

And forget about eating out. Getting to do that is a special treat. My wife and I had Outback the other night. An appetizer, 10 oz steak entree, 12 oz steak entree, and two sweet teas was $75 without tip.

And the list goes on. If a family was spending $1500/mo on gas, insurance, and groceries in 2019-2020, they're paying close to $3000 today.

Have you told her the legend of passive Jay?

In my early days on my own I stole rolls and rolls from the supply closet at work. A light bulb or 3 as well.
Maybe some trash bags. And other cleaning supplies....

I'm not ashamed of this, lol.

Chicken leg quarters and pork assorted cuts like pork steaks, pork ribeyes sometimes on sale. You start getting into chicken breasts, wings, baby backs, chops, loin and the price hike is insane. The rotisserie chicken already cooked is nearly the same price as the whole bird uncooked.

Lol@Going out to eat. I'll do take out with a coupon.
some weeks all we eat is porc and chicken on special

a lot of our Spaghetti is done with mild Italian sausage these days since I can buy a pack of 14-15 for $10

I've bought stolen beef as recent as a year ago. I've also purchased food stamps back in the day. I would do it in a heartbeat again, too but it seems these lowlifes are wising up to the fact they need food to survive.

I do my spaghetti with spicy italian sausage and hamburger meat in a 4/1 ratio. I've been doing that for 15+ years though since it's the best tasting spaghetti imo.

I think that grocery prices were bumped significantly based on all of the shit stains that steal without being shot or run over like the good ole days

English muffins or any good bread costs a nice a chunk of change. Bakeries will take both your nuts.

I only buy meat/seafood that's part of weekly sales specials and we do most of our shopping for other shit at Lidl and Aldi. We don't have a Kroger, but buy a lot of meat and seafood from Harris Teeter and Fresh Market. Our house and cars are paid for and our combined salaries are north of $250k in South Carolina with no kids and I still feel like we're barely middle class.

I feel really, really bad for the current generation of 20 and 30 year olds, they are fucked, right now. Hopefully Pumpkin Spice Jesus can get this dumpster fire under control, but I have my doubts.
I earn similar and I save 80% of my income lol (and I pay rent no car payments). What are you spending it on?

That's impressive. Are you investing it? Are you looking at a very early retirement?
Yes it's going into various places. I started earning well later in life so need to catch up.

No plans to retire ever, but I have a startup Ill probably have to self fund because of the industry it's in. I'll only put money into it if I get some traction though.

We also moved to lower cost of living place.

Grocery prices are absurd in Pittsburgh. I was in Walgreens and was craving something sweet so I wandered into their cookie isle to see what I could find. 9 fucking dollars for a pack of Oreos. And the Danish Christmas cookies (traditional ones in a tin) were imported from India. I left empty-handed and disappointed.

I just went to the local Kroger at lunch. Nothing but old people and lazy ass out of work millenials. It was a trip. The smells reotated between cig smoke and white diamonds perfume. Fuck it was crazy. Bought about 10 things for $66.

for those in rural areas check for a local egg farm, you can buy them much cheaper there, when covid hit I was buying cases from them and giving them away to people, it is almost 1/2 price but you are buying thirty dozen at a time.

Also, if you're a city dweller or suburbanite and have an Aldi or Lidl, you can find a dozen eggs for around $2-$2.50 when they're $5 at other grocery stores. They were $.85 a dozen, there, back before all this bullshit started.

Here on the left coast eggs were $8+ a dozen a week ago...

You can find probably find cage-free, fair trade eggs from certified gay chickens here for $8 a dozen, but you'd have to be an absolute retard to pay that much for them. But the reason you can find them in stores here is because a lot of retards have moved here.
