It does look like GGG-Canelo will happen in September so that's good newsGolovkin is a real treat to watch. Unfortunately, he's having a real hard time getting the big names to agree to fight him. It really is embarrassing to boxing - you have all these pretenders at MW who shake in their boots at the very mention of GGG.
I like Canelo, he seems like a real man but personally I won't believe it until I see them both in the ring together. I can see some issue popping up and the fight going down the toilet. It does look like GGG-Canelo will happen in September so that's good news
Yea Martin Murray probably was his toughest fight so far, well that Ive seen anyway. Even that was walkover but Murray is a tough guy dont get me wrong.Golovkin is a real treat to watch. The way he doubles up on the left hook is just beautiful as well.
I think a full 160 pounds would give Saul a better chance. He actually weighs more on fight night.I like Canelo, he seems like a real man but personally I won't believe it until I see them both in the ring together. I can see some issue popping up and the fight going down the toilet.
And I hope Canelo actually has the integrity to defend the MW championship at MW. The fucking middleweight belt hasn't been defended at 160 in about 3 years now. Ever since Cotto/SGM, it's been catch weight after catch weight. It's the 160 title, they should be forced to fight at 160, but no doubt GGG is going to have to agree to another stupid catch weight to make the fight happen. Canelo can't beat GGG, he knows it as well as everyone else. He doesn't have the power and he doesn't have the stamina.
HBO turned a profit with the Lemuiex ppv. I hate ppv but the only way that fight was made was because it was on ppv. That fight was not heavily promoted either due to Lemuiex, who I'm a fan of. I think he's a good exciting fighter.I absolutely love watching GGG fight but it's getting harder and harder watching him fight lesser fighters.
He definitely should be more accomplished taking into account his skill but he has himself to blame too in some ways. Canello offered the fight at 155, he didn't take it..he was talking mad shit, nobody would fight him, everyone's ducking, yet when ward accepted the fight he wanted to drain him too..but when cannelo says it, he's ducking and ggg no comprende espanol..
I wouldn't say shit if he was a draw..but the guy barely brought in any money vs Lemieux..granted he probably needs more time, but until he can bring cash he should go out there and fight to make a point and not act like a diva..Canelo has every right to demand 155lbs and even a 90-10 split.
He's just a brilliant fighter. He's looking like a once in a generation type of fighter. He's the best middleweight I've seen in a long timeThe way he doubles up on the left hook is just beautiful as well.
Ouma gave GGG a decent go but was still knocked out. Which GGG was having major trouble coming into that fightYea Martin Murray probably was his toughest fight so far, well that Ive seen anyway. Even that was walkover but Murray is a tough guy dont get me wrong.
GGG's toughest fights are ahead of him, theres a few great fights that could be made further down the line. Him vs Cotto or Alvarez would surely be a good fight, he'd probably walk through Billy Joe Saunders but at least that would mean him and Saul are holding all the belts at mw that would set up a fight with them 2. Him vs De Gale would also be good.
Standout fight for me would be GGG vs Ward.
Yeah the Lemieux fight was good and I did watch it, was excited for it too, but everybody knew how that fight would go down.HBO turned a profit with the Lemuiex ppv. Well it was a unification fight. I'm not going to knock a guy for unifying. GGG doesn't have to cave to Saul's catch weight proposition. The WBC has stated it will be at a full 160 pounds or Canelo will be strippedYeah the Lemieux fight was good and I did watch it, was excited for it too, but everybody knew how that fight would go down.
My main gripe with him is that GGG's had chances and didn't take them, which is a long way off the "I'll fight anybody, anywhere" initial promotion. It's not a knock against him in the grand scheme of things (everyone does it) but its not what he's pretending to be either. I think he probably beats Canelo, but he's gonna have to play by his rules, when he beats him, he can be the one to make demands.
Yeah they had said that, but consider that they also supposedly had given him a 2week deadline to accept the GGG fight, which went over and nothing happened. Add to that that the WBC is a Mexican org and Canelo is their own and the top draw right now and I can see that not happening too.Well it was a unification fight. I'm not going to knock a guy for unifying. GGG doesn't have to cave to Saul's catch weight proposition. The WBC has stated it will be at a full 160 pounds or Canelo will be stripped
Agreed, considering this is why I'm so pissed GGG didn't take the 155 offer..he could totally go for it and that fight would be set, just before cannelo said 155, he was saying he's fight mayweather at 154..Canelo says his body isn't ready for middleweight, but he's clocked unofficial "fight night" weights of 172-175, which is roughly what GGG usually clocks (even more so).
If Canelo doesn't want to fight GGG, that's fine, but stop calling yourself a MW. It really is embarrassing for boxing. Imagine if Conor beats RDA and says "ok, now if you want the 155lb title you have to meet me at 149lbs." It's fucking horse shit. Either fight GGG or hand over the linear belt.
I don't think Canelo or his people fancy that fight, because he's not simply going to be outclassed like he was against Mayweather, he's going to get fucked up. Same as Adonis Stevenson, everyone knows he doesn't want to fight Kovalev because he's going to lose and in devastating fashion.
