General Building a deck with hot tub

Some guy sloped his deck towards his house and notched the gutters resulting in water damage under the hot tub slab probably.

You are crushing it! Looks great @Wild!

Thanks homie. Got the deck boards done around the hot tub this morning. Got sun burnt while I was out there. Hot a shit here today.

All I have left is the last board that I have to rip down against the house, and cut all the decks boards at the end. Then it'll be time to start on the pergola.

Do you have to do a tapered rip Bruv

@Wild - This is a "is your deck square" trap. Don't fall for it.

Looks great man. My favorite part about building a deck is finally being able to walk around on it after balancing yourself on joists during assembly.

I usually take a beer break as soon as I have enough decking to place my tools and my ass. It's a huge sense of accomplishment. Haha.

Thanks brother. Agree with you about the sense of accomplishment. I decked around the tub yesterday, and had to use a jig saw to work around the curves corners, etc. When it was done, I must have walked outside 3-4 times and just looked at it. This has been a grind doing it myself, but it feels great when you accomplish tasks.

Looking back, the first post in this thread was on 5/6 and I said I hope to be done that following Sunday. Bwahahahahaha ?. Rigggggght.

To answer @Lars trap question, I don’t think I’m gonna have to taper that back board at all. If I do, it might be a 1/4”...maybe. I’ll take some measurements on video lol.

My wife and our daughters are going to spend the day with her mom. Think they’re going to visit grave sites of lost family members. Doesn’t sound like any fun to me, so I think I’m going to cut the end of the deck boards off, cut those 4x4’s on the end down to the same height, paint the carriage bolts that will go thru the pergola headers gloss black, and cut the ends of the pergola headers to whatever design I come up. So tomorrow, I should be able to lift those pergola headers into place and get them secured. Going to need a couple neighbors to help. Those things are 20 foot long 2 x 12’s and it’s going to be a bitch.

In your defense, if your weather has been like ours you've only had about 3 or 4 days since then where it wasn't spitting rain all day.
