The Most Consistent Motherfucker You Know
I don't even have a peddle board. 🙁
My guitar playing consists mostly of messing with my pedal board. You play electric or acoustic?

Been thinking about picking up a Tele and getting back into the electrics again.
I’ve never had my own electric, only acoustic. I’ve messed around with electrics, but that’s about it.Started on electric.
Been playing mostly acoustic for the last 20 years or so.

Funny, was just watching Shakti and the guitar trio videos yesterdayPaco deLucia
This is fucking ridiculous
I can't figure out how he's getting the harmonics at 2:20. I'm assuming pinched on the G string as that appears to be the only string not fretted. So flawless.

I’m a Tele guy - love them so much, and for a couple of years I have been threatening to buy a decent one and an amp. And every time I do my research and think I know what I want to get, life gets busy and I end up not touching a guitar for a while so the lust fades and I end up still not having one. Someday, god damn it!
just out of curiosity, do you know which model you would get?
same question to you @TJ shat in me mouf! - can you remind me what model you have? IIRC you got a blonde one….which I dig.
I don’t know jack shit about amps and pedals, so that’s usually where I get lost doing my shopping research. Any and all suggestions regarding that are also welcome.
I found some footage of an old jam session with @Hauler and @Pak protector

Cool thanks. I really like the butterscotch and natural ones.I had a butterscotch blonde American Performer which I've since sold, but I do have a Korina bodied 52 reissue in blonde. I've swapped the pickups in it. I found with my amp the stock pickups were a little on the "ice picky" side of bright. So I ordered a set of custom wound pickups that are intended to nail that "Bakersfield sound" my playing doesn't nail the sound but the pickups certainly do their part. I've mostly been playing my strat lately, but maybe I'll pull the ole Tele out.
Man, back in the late 80s and 90s I remember Jackson and Charvels were everywhere.LOL
My first guitar was a Jackson and I did indeed play that song as well as several other Scorpions songs.
Matthias Jabs was awesome
Gorgeous

Back in college I had a friend who’s whole life revolved around guitar. While I knew him he was working on his masters in classical guitar. And he also taught lessons and worked at the only small music shop in town. And he was in 5 or 6 bands and played house parties and bars most nights of the week. I was barely starting to play at that point, but looking back at it now, he was pretty incredible. As a 21-22 year old he was covering entire Zappa albums and shit, and doing it very well. One night he’s playing heavy rock, the next funk and jazz, and then the next night he’d do a classical performance. It was so fun, we tried to go see him play as often as we could.I often lust over Jackson's and Charvels when I see them in music stores. The EVH guitars are pretty sweet too.
I started playing at 13, and had been feasting on the Beatles, and all the legends emerging from the electric guitar Renaissance. I grew up in a happy time for 6 stringers.Man, back in the late 80s and 90s I remember Jackson and Charvels were everywhere.

long story short, his main axe was a sub $300 Charvel that he bought with his discount from the store he worked at. And an old 50 watt Peavy amp. IIRC it was some kind of pearl color. That was the first time I realized that it isn’t the equipment that makes it sound good - it’s definitely the player.
he did have a really nice classical though, that was required as part of the degree program.
To your point, John Mayer is well known for playing through 10's of thousands of dollars worth of gear.
Also, here is John Mayer playing through a couple hundred dollars worth of gear:

As with Hendrix, when a Strat player rises to prominence, Fender showers them with Strats.
Very jealous of that standing in the player's community you reach when you no longer have to worry about how much gear costs.
That status when they pay you to design a line guitar with your personal stamp on it and it sells because your name is attached.or in Mayer's case where companies design guitars and amps around his requests.

No. That's a beauty! I like that he kept the traditional body carving like the belly cut, and that scooped lower horn is probably better than cosmetic, it looks right. Great "reboot".Have you seen the Paul Reed Smith - Silver Sky?
You may have seen this already…but PRS made this for his Dead and Co toursHave you seen the Paul Reed Smith - Silver Sky?
