"Listen, when Aaron Pico tries to sleep at night, he can only dream in fuckin' red. For regular folks, the outside world is fuckin' black and white. But with this Pico kid, I shit you not, only one colour's dead."

Bellator is becoming the place where UFC gatekeepers go to win championships and retire.
soccer has a similar system like bundesliga/epl/la liga/calcio compared to eredivirsie/ligue 1/portugal/south america. it is actually beneficial to the sport, builds up promising superstar talent and gives the old guys a place to make a ton of money

Soccer HAS a similar system set up. It's called the mls. There were talks of mls folding some years ago because it just wasn't producing but now that they are bringing in old legends, they seem to be better off than before. Beckham, Henry, blanco, kaka, David villa, Andrea pirlo, among many more legends came to mls to give it a little more attention.

People claim to not like it, but the results speak for themselves.

I actually meant HAS I hit the"D"on my phone(giggity) , yeah MLS and liga MX in Mexico work as a feeder system for UEFA teams, seeing gerrard keane, gio, kaka and henry at the stubhub center has been fun, didn't get to see pirlo or villa, seeing villa hit a FK would be cool

And Dana thought Anderson, Hendo, Cung Le, Fitch, etc etc did too.

Your point?
Point is Coker got lucky by signing Ronda and he never took WMMA seriously. They never headlined a show. They were side shows. He had Cyborg assaulting blown up 125ers because he's in love with the freak show. He brought that same mentality to Bellator.

Coker needs to decide if he's in the MMA business or the retirement home business hahaha
Shamrock vs Gracie was only slightly worse than Couture vs Coleman.

And if you really look at the fights he's put on, like these-

- or tonight's-

- I think the answers pretty clear.

Oh my god dude WAAAAAAAAY fucking worse. Couture was old, but he was actually a top ranked fighter at the time. Coleman was well passed it, but he was coming off a win over a legit young fighter in Bonnar.

Shamrock is a fucking joke. Gracie is 50 and hadn't fought in 10 years. You can't compare the UFC booking Randy Couture, who was less than 2 years removed from being the UFC Heavyweight champ, to booking Ken Shamrock or Royce Gracie. That's some nut hugger-ass shit dude, and I just won't hear of it.

That being said, I do agree with you on the women thing. Coker invested heavily in WMMA way back in a time where Dana wouldn't have even considered it. And if it wasn't for Scott Coker, there wouldn't have been WMMA in the UFC and likely no Ronda Rousey, so Coker has had his impact in shaping MMA and deserves respect for being a great promoter.

I'm not here to shit on Bellator or Coker, because I wish both of them nothing but success. I'm just hoping they get away from the geriatrics and freak shows, and put more emphasis on real MMA like they are doing tonight.

I am fine with respecting certain aspects of the Coker

also Coleman looked really good against Bonnar, he was just outclassed by Couture.

Alright, you make a good point. I was only looking at there age at the time (Couture 47 and Coleman 46 I believe).

He's also far away more important to MMA than Shamrock could ever dream to be.

Coker using Shamrock to draw ratings...I'm fine with that. The UFC did it for 3 fights with Tito Ortiz that were never close.

Serious questions to the people who don't agree that Coker is brilliant:

1. Who has Dana White signed in the past year and how do these fighters compare to the fighters Coker signed?
2. If you exclude Fedor, Overeem and Sterling could you think of any other elite well-known fighter that was a free agent and Coker didn't sign?
3. Would Bellator be in a better or worse position at the moment if Coker hadn't signed the older well-known fighters bearing in mind that he has broken all company record in terms of tv-viewership and gate?
