Hard to say, I wear it a lot of places where I'm not "forced".

I wear it if I'm indoors around people of unknown immunity status.
Good
Protect them from the variants and spike protiens you are shedding

I appreciate that very much sir

Spike protein vaxxers creep me out a bit, and are a threat to my health

Respect

In my experience the people who defend masks are those that aren’t made to wear them.
Multiple family members mocked and talked shit on why can’t people just wear their masks. Then they take a 3 hour flight and I gotta hear for weeks how stupid and uncomfortable they are.

If wearing a mask helps protect you from getting sick or spreading sickness. What would be the argument against it?
Cost and lack of effectiveness. Need a density of cases and transmissible disease to justify it. Likely it would need to be flu/RSV seasons to see a statistically measurable effect that masking made a difference. And even then I'm not sure that data is really available. Would need to do some studies.
On the other hand the long held recommendation to mask the respiratory sick and mask if in close proximity to said sick should be continued and is likely more cost effective without significant variation in outcomes.

That makes sense and what I believe to basically be the stance up until covid. Just gonna be a wild twist when we get told they don’t really do much again.

can you put a percentage on this?

I have seen studies that showed no benefit and a study that showed 1.32% reduction in transmission

there are several like this (5-15% reduction), but the big difference came when symptomatic people and their household wore masks.
it was in Japan or maybe Singapore. but now the googles are all full of COVID references to Japan and mask culture.

You can also look at the flu levels in HK and Singapore at the start of the pandemic.

Would love to see this...lots of studies needed.

Makes perfect sense

Not going around others when you are sickly has been a common courtesy I have always valued
Somebody wants to hang out, have a sip from my cup, share a joint/pipe, etc...I always say hey "maybe that isn't a good idea, I have been around sickly folk or felt sickly myself last week or in my recent past"

I can get down with that type of behavior

i was made to wear a "bunny suit" working 12hr maintenance shifts in a cleanroom.
'uncomfortable' is a relative term, but it usually means "not adapted yet".

and people are pretty adaptable.

Cool, thanks
I can't read it all now but will get at it later, they seem to be talking vaccines also in that paper on first scan.

I would also like a lot more studies to be done

COVID19 is significantly more transmissible than any other virus you've had to deal with. There is a paucity of immunity firewalls in the population that will only resolve with vaccines and recovered patients. Ideally that happens in concert to avoid variants as we are now seeing. Until then masks are an effective way to slow the spread of the disease. Ideally they would be used in higher risk situations and less and less so as vaccinations increase.
If COVID19 were moving through the population such that you saw the same hospitalization/death rate as any other illnesses we deal with all the time, you'd have no good argument for universal masking.

they control for vaccinations and masking.

but the observational/self-report studies tend to dilute outcomes.

if you can adapt, you should.

otherwise you're being uncomfortable for no reason.

never worn a "bunny suit" so I can't speak to that

as far as masks...my body quite obviously prefers to not wear one and breathe free of obstruction
