It really is the only way to treat them. Austria, a country of 9 million people, has found that out the hard way. They've had to go back into lockdown for all (initially it was only for the unvaccinated) after nearly 16,000 new daily cases were reported there yesterday.
That would be equivalent to 45,000 new daily cases in Australia or 580,000 new daily cases in the U.S.
And though we're the leprosy capital of the world, we haven't quite hit such a figure (yet).

Sydney has 1/10th of the daily cases that we were having while in lockdown now that it is completely opened up, which is ridiculous. 180 cases today in the whole of New South Wales vs 1100 here and they've been open for ages.
Their vaccination levels have clearly suppressed the virus. We've put a lid on it, but we haven't been able to really put our foot on it.
For whatever reason, viruses have always just spread like wildfire in Melbourne, and these geographic nuances are always lost in discussions about certain restrictions places enact.

They are and they're shitting up hospital/ICU capacity.

I really enjoy this part of the arguement, I'm going to speak for my area pre-covid our ICUs were over capacity. Insert covid *checks notes* two years ago and our ICU capacity is still over we've added zero new beds.
