The way I see it is fairly simple. I really don't care what you choose to do personally but if you act as though someone walked into your house and shit in your favorite chair just because someone asked you to wear a mask then I'm strongly on the side that thinks you're retarded.

I'm also not a fan of the people that have panic attacks when they see someone who isn't wearing a mask in public but I can cut them a tiny amount of slack because they're at least trying to look out for people's health even if they are being a complete cunt about it.
This is why we can't have nice things!

If 80% of people had worn masks since they issued the advice, The lockdown would probably have been lifted by now.

Last week I saw Cuomo on tv saying that hospital workers and various types of first responders including police have a lower infection rate than the general population, and he believes it's because they're wearing masks.

But idk if that's counting all the hospital workers that died at first because all the ppe went to the doctors and nurses. (At least that's my understanding of what happened in certain hospitals.) Maybe he was counting from after that.

I've got a solution. Frequent inspections of places that are effectively health care facilities it's not even like it's a complex problem.

Could you imagine if we had new build houses collapsing on themselves and the almost universal response was "Well, laborers get paid shit wages." ?
Yeah, we'll get the military in every few months to report on problems everybody has known about all along.

Its actually just a matter of people who have jobs, doing them. Ontario for example has a minister of longterm care and I believe the home are subsidized by the government. It's not like this is an unregulated industry, it's just one nobody does anything about.

Granted, you might be onto something by having military doing random inspections of a lot of shit. They were also the ones who blew the whistle on the RCMP during High River.

It's obvious nobody in government gives a shit, out east anyways. Doug Ford is acting all shocked about this military report. He dropped the ball on adjusting the staff to patient ratio, capped care workers wages, eliminated paid days for essential workers and limited inspections of long term care.

He didn't care then and he doesn't care now.

You're conflating what's going on right now with cuts that were deemed necessary a year ago. Homes have always been awful, but this is only news because of the deaths we've seen.

Its not the only thing we got no matter how many times you repeat it. I live in a city of a million people. In this city over the past week we have single digit cases. Instead of focusing on getting an accurate antibody test and faster results for the tests we do have, they have people arguing over masks and pretending like the goal is to stop the spread entirely.
Testing can only do so much, and may be overkill with so few cases. Compared to that, wearing a mask takes no effort, nor is as invasive or time consuming as testing a large group of people.

My point is, you can literally pick anything you don't want to do, and choose that as being the line in the sand, where you may consider your freedom infringed.

I repeat it so often maybe because people do not understand, or refuse to understand the simplicity/concept of wearing a mask, but yet with so much results towards an effort to minimize the spread of Covid-19. Too few cases in your city to wear a mask? Maybe that is because people wore a mask, and did other non-invasive measures to stop the virus. I only wear a mask when in a store now, that's it. I still feel free as a bird.

Testing gives us an accurate count of how close we are to heard immunity. Masks don't, masks actually impede ever getting accomplishing herd immunity which is the goal. Remember that it's slow the spread not stop it. At the rate we're going right now it's going to be 2 years before we have the numbers to support letting people get back to normal.

It also occurs to me that masks are being used by a lot of government groups as a distraction tactic but that's a different conversation.

I'm regards to masks it was trump that made this an issue. So it's become a clarion call for the hard right and magatards.

If he had just said its a recommendation from the cdc and urged folks to be sensible it would have stopped all this madness.

But no. That would be too presidential so he has caused a schism that was wholly pointless.

Did they discover that people with the "antibodies" they have been testing for are actually immune to getting it again? I have still been hearing about people getting the virus "twice" (I put in quotes because who knows if they ever fully got over it when they thought they did).

Also has there been any more word about the permanent organ damage they think it does even to healthy people who get it with the breathing problems?

I feel like I am falling behind on the news a bit, but still I keep hearing "herd immunity" at the same time as "even if you had it we don't know if you're immune".

That is what masks do. Remember you telling me that masks are no guarantee for protection? It's slows the spread. Herd immunity may occur only after a vaccine is available. I would not want to wait that long and expose so many people to reach that 80%. We've need to achieve the herd effect with a vaccine preferably.
