serious question for those who eat takeout but are also concerned with a lack of mask usage?

How is pick up/take out food OK?
Not all food is hot enough to kill a virus and if a virus can float thru the air it can certainly come in on containers or food and drinks...who knows what the people making your meal are doing? Eating food somebody else made has always been one of the most common ways to get sick.

Full disclosure: I have gotten thai food a few times and also some BBQ and it was damn good...other than that I have been home cooking since "lockdown" because home cooking is doing the body and abs good.
Would eat out more but two of my favorite spots went out of business with reduced income.

LoL @ This goof...

He's gotten rekt before bitching about people not wearing masks while his crew wasn't wearing any...

He got rekt by the CHAZ/CHOP scum attacking him for saying it was like a festival...

He got rekt today for hypocrisy for once again bitching about masks but he along with the rest of the fake-and-gay media got on all fours for the rioters destroying the country and are still silent about them but are vocal against these people because they hate Trump so much...

All this and he's still a left-wing soyboy hack...

I was buying beer in the store this morning and on the radio they were talking about the second wave and how we needed to prepare to shut everything down again. Sure, fuck them. No one is going to give a shit, if I am forced to wear a mask outside again, I will refuse and go to court. I wont let them bully me with their bullshit again, and the people I have spoken to, feel the same. You are not going to ruin our lives because of the 28 people who have died of this exaggerated crap

I note that here in Texas mask use is largely by racial lines.
I am not convinced that's what this data is showing or causation...but it did make me think of that observation over the weekend when I entered a restaurant to pick up to-go. Consistently I'm the only young white person wearing a mask in my area that isn't employed at the establishment.
It's very hit or miss around us. We live right on the edge of suburbia and the country. It's interesting to see where people are wearing masks and where they are not.

We do not get delivery and rarely get prepared foods but when we do, they are always hot foods that we reheat at home before eating. One of the things we didn't like about what our relatives are doing is that they are getting delivery and not reheating the food. They also got in cold food that you would not reheat like sushi. (Then they were serving that food to guests without wearing masks.) Nope, not for us.

We went to a Chinese restaurant last night because we felt like it.

The world is filled with panic monkeys.

good thing is that the bars are usually empty because many people arent willing to go out of fear of catching this thing. If its warranted or not, I dont care, Its good to have more space and the amount of people there is so low, that everyone is social distancing three times the length that is required

Do you have children? Just curious.
Yes, and I made them go and order the Wuhan special, which was pineapple shrimp fried rice.
I also have an elderly father with asthma, cancer, and bad gas and I made him go as well.

I'm avoiding all places where I see they are not wearing gloves and masks. At the same time I wanna help keeping em alive. Still it definitely has gotten less.

My perspective is people get sick and die and people need to work to live.
Just like all of us, 1/2 the people I've cared about through life have died, it sucks, it's painful, but that's life.
Take precautions for those at risk, but don't ruin other people's lives because some people think we should live in a safety bubble.
People have put their life savings into businesses that have gone belly up. The staff at restaurants, stores, the companies that supply them etc....are really struggling and need to work. That is the financial and economic reality, we can't live on caring and good intentions.

I get heating the food itself to "sterilize" it

but....
-The packaging/containers
-The exchange of the packaging/containers
-The paper/plastic bag, the air inside the paper bag
-everything that was touched by another human that isn't hot seems to be a risk for those who are adamant about managing risk

Thanks for the response.

I just see lots of contradicting behaviors from people and was curious where and why people were drawing the "line".
