Hey Texans and Floridians, Melbourne (well, a few outside Melbourne but not many) just hit 723 cases today. That's more than Dallas County and every Texas County aside from three and every Florida County except Miami-Dade and Broward.

Three weeks into a stage 3 lockdown and a week into a compulsory mask order and you still can't hold us down. We are coming for that crown fast.

We're shutting down state testing sites for the weekend because a tropical storm is headed our way, so you'll probably surpass us (Broward County) soon.

Crazy to think that by forcing residents to stay inside, a tropical storm/hurricane might save a lot of people's lives.

I love that Florida exists.

How is that possible? Is Trump in charge of Melbourne too?

So the mayor of Melbourne is a Republican governor?
LOL. The first thing you jump to is partisanship. Well, the Mayor of Melbourne is a conservative but mayors don't have any power here.

The Premier of Victoria is centre-left. And I have done nothing but rant about his extreme incompetence the entire time. Him and his useless cronies have ruined this city for a generation.

Partisanship? If there's one thing I've learned from the news and social media it's that all high case numbers are in the U.S. and caused by careless Americans, Trump or republican governors. Have I been mislead?

I know he said those things, I'm asking why they're such an afront. There is a major issue with testing accuracy and kids aren't getting sick.

It's rich to say "He made sure everyone knew he did it" as if Bill Gates doesn't make sure everyone knows he's dealing with the white man's burden.
Gates has done a lot for vaccination and saving lives when epidemiology and virology weren't at the top of Twitter feeds. Not the case with Musk, so it's not out of line to question his motives considering that he didn't even give them what they were asking for...he bought a bunch of stuff they could have bought if they wanted it, but they didn't, and then he gave it to them in a very public way.

the issue with testing accuracy of the infection test is that it generates false negatives. The issue with the antibody tests is that they generate false positives. The way he uses the number is also 'story-telling'. He picked the biggest possible number, the population of the US, as his Population so that he could get the biggest possible number for 'false positives'. If he's not arguing that the entire country has been infected, why use that for your Population?

We're talking about the guy who threatens the health of his employees if it impacts his bottom line.

So he's doing with ventilators the same thing Gates has been doing with vaccines since the early 2000's?

Everyone has picked the biggest possible number to support their positions throughout this entire pandemic. You yourself have done it several times.

That's a complete bullshit narrative and you know it. In fact, here's a quote from the article you posted:

Alameda County said on Saturday that it has been working with Tesla to develop a safety plan that “allows for reopening while protecting the health and well-being of the thousands of employees” who work at the factory, and that it looks forward to coming to an agreement on a safety plan very soon.

Fremont mayor Lily Mei expressed concern about the potential economic implications of continuing the shelter-in-place order without provisions for manufacturers such as Tesla to resume. Mei on Saturday urged the county to work with businesses on “acceptable guidelines for re-opening”.

no, Gates is buying them what they need but can't afford. I didn't think it was very hard to see the delta.

examples? sounds like I do it all the time, should be easy to grab a couple.

he threatened to move them to place where those Alameida safety protocols were not a factor. There's nothing in Musk's statements or lawsuits that indicates he's taking steps to mitigate risk, only that he should be allowed to return to normal operations.
